I had been using Pinnacle Studio 9 and I just upgrade it to Studio HD v15. The upgrade provided additions of INPOUT-OUTPUT of AVCHD/H.264, HDV format. It also has Archive/Restore tool, picture in picture that I am really appreciated. I recommend Pinnacle Studio HD 15 over Sony Vegas Studio HD. The Sony Vegas cost twice much and it even not allow user to burn a DVD and it freezes your computer on mpeg-4 output format'g.

I use three editors on a constant basis, the AVID Media Composer, Sony Vegas Pro and AVID Pinnacle. Pinnacle editors are good for simple, two track edits ONLY because they have a lot of FX software that if purchased separatly for NLE's like FCP, AVID MC and Vegas Pro, literally costs thousands. I have used Pinnacle since v10 with exactly 100 projects, 53 of them created by v15. Average length is 60 minutes. In my opinion, v12.1 was their best work. Here's why I would not recommend v15 unless you are a nube, which you wont be after 10 projects, and you'll see what I mean.
In v14 and continuing with v15, Pinnacle added motion menus and more montage themes but they made some serious changes that to me, ruined the product. 1st they replaced SmartSound with the cheesy, 80's sounding, one-man-band travesty called Scorefitter. This, after I invested in SmartSound's WHOLE MUSIC LIBRARY, but I found a work-around, so, OK. 2nd, Pinnacle swapped their decent Sound FX with 1920's quality audio recordings but then also got rid of a few SFX that I liked. No problem, I saved all the old recordings. 3rd and most eggregious is they have ruined the menu structure and virtually elinminated your ability to ever make your movie professional looking. You will NEVER be able to make pre or post-menu graphics in BluRay. You cannot create professional menus like you could in v12. If you want to languish in DVD land then you might be happy with v15.
In addition, The 5.1 editor is worthless, and if you edit AVCHD, keep your movies under 10 minutes or you'll need a work station. Unless you can get used to crashes as often as every 10 minutes.
Seriously, AVID, go to Europe and tell Pinnacle to get Liquid 7 out of the closet, becuase they ruined this little gem.

Comments about Pinnacle Studio HD v.15 Video Editing Software:
I use this "product" every day, and each day it is an excercise in frustration. First, the program crashes CONSTANTLY. Don't bother asking Pinnacle support, because their suggestions range from laughable to absurd (they had me disable the Windows 7 Aero theme). DVD menus are far from compatible, and sometimes after multiple render attempts, with settings and menus that worked previously, you cannot for the life of you make the thing burn an acceptable DVD. This software is a poor excuse for anything in its 15th version. It is riddled with bugs, incompatibilities, and misses the most obvious functions - I can add a cheesy 3D flying wedding cake to my movie, but I can't horizontally mirror a video clip, even though that feature is in versions as early as Liquid 7. Go figure. All I can say is, if you value your sanity, stay away from this piece of garbage.

I bought this software on the recommendations of several people.
I intend to use it to edit videos from my
GO Pro camera.

Comments about Pinnacle Studio HD v.15 Video Editing Software:
I almost dreaded the pending challenge of learning highly complex and difficult software during the download. I was desperate, however, and really wanted to recover my old camera videos and create something I could edit and make worth displaying. But being of an august age, I had that feeling this was not going to be easy and the results not pretty and I would soon be stashing my Pinnacle HD V15 on the shelf with my several other grand failures.
While apparently complex the software is certainly not difficult to learn.
I was greatly surprised with my quickly learned new editing skills as I opened up what my wife once called: "Nonsensical shooting of the kids and dogs." I pressed on while playing around with the many scenes, the background sounds, transitions, dubbed in some canned music, and even constructed two new film titles. One hour into this initial go at editing had me wanting to download all my other films of the past decades and run them across my V15 computer screen.
I had a private screen showing for my wife. The family 'junk' of the past had her delighted with the results, albeit, this first editing needing more skills than I had displayed during my initial hour of effort.
With winter and foul weather coming on, V15 will be my toy of choice, and I will stay happily engaged with it while bringing to life the discards of my youth.

I hate it when they can't supply a manual. PDF is great for those Companies who are cheap and are just selling a product. The latest trend by Corporations.
I prefer a manual and a ohone number for personal service on the use of the New product.
Comments about Pinnacle Studio HD v.15 Video Editing Software:
Installed on Win 7 Pro upgrade without any problems. So far, my main usage is to edit long audio files. It's very easy to adjust volume levels across the entire track (if needed). It is also very easy and super fast to "move" to any point within the audio track while in the audio timeline. So far, no known issues.
