The Azden SGM-110 Shotgun Microphone is a special edition long barrel (15 3/4") version of the SGM-1X. Its supercardioid polar pattern minimizes off-axis noise and maximizes range, and the output stage features a low impedance XLR connection. Its low noise (of -50db), wide bandwidth, switchable low-cut and integrated shock-mount make this microphone an excellent value. The microphone is powered with a single "AAA" battery for over 250 hours.

Comments about Azden SGM-110 Shotgun Microphone:
This mic is useful in a controlled, quiet set. It doesn't pick up the amount of clarity and detail that I'd like it too, but it's a decent mic for the price. It works well simply plugged into the camera, but you'll have more control over the mic when using an audio interface and using a program like logic or garageband to compress the audio and amp up the gain. Overall, this mic is worth the price and gets the job done.

Comments about Azden SGM-110 Shotgun Microphone:
I've had this mic for about a year and a half. I've been using it on my personal cameras for small projects. I am a full time photojournalist at a TV station and recently I decided to put it on my work camera which is a JVC GY-HM710 to replace the shotgun that came with it. I was amazed at how crisp and clear the sound it picked up was. There was very little noise and I've only had to change the battery in it once. The pick up pattern isn't the best, but seriously, what do you expect with a shotgun this inexpensive. I do recommend using a shorter cable rather than longer. I use a 3 ft XLR. The noise isn't bad but this is definitely a mic that should go on the camera rather than on a separate boom. Having said that, it will still do fine on a boom. You will get more sound from the side and behind than may be to your liking but it is still a very directional mic. I know on multiple occasions I've used it as a primary mic for getting sound when I was unable to attach a lav mic to someone or get a mic near them (an example of this is a speaker at a podium). Overall, if you need a mic that can really deliver but you don't have the money for the more expensive ones. I highly recommend this one.

Comments about Azden SGM-110 Shotgun Microphone:
This mic is not great, but it is a decent shotgun mic for the price. It is not completely directional, because of the supercardoid pickup pattern. It actually works well for interviews inside and in relatively quiet environments. The quality is pretty good, though on string chamber music, which I'm recording right now, it sounds a little harsh. Overall, I liked this mic to begin with because it is a versatile and well-rounded mic at an affordable price. And I recommend it as exactly that.
