The Archos 48 internet tablet is a touch screen synergy between smartphone and desktop PC. You have full-page web browsing, wireless connectivity, portability, video and music playback; plus, there's a jaw-dropping 500 GB of storage space for your files. The 48 internet tablet has a 4.8" touch screen with 800 x 480 resolution and can play videos in up to 720p HD. With WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth mobile phone tethering, you'll be able to access the Internet from virtually anywhere.
For photos, music and video, the 48 internet tablet can store and play back several different file types. You'll be able to listen to Internet radio and watch Internet TV, as well as streaming content from your home computer files without actually downloading anything. You can show photo slideshows with background music and zoom in without image degradation due to the tablet's high resolution.
The 48 internet tablet comes equipped with several applications pre-programmed including an Email App that allows you to check your emails from any account and even see awaiting emails right on your screen. The 48 internet tablet also has apps for using MS Office and reading PDF files, as well as for accessing social networks. There's even a whole library called the AppsLib, where you'll find a huge variety of free and purchasable applications for your device.

this unit is very much the same as the archos 5 it which runs the android 1.6 ...biggest problem it does'nt play flash video and archos will never update cos they keep on making new systems every year and dont maintain to much support for older systems .but if you can do without flash video then its a good unit

lot of funcionalities and great hard disk capacity ..also supports lots of audio/video formats, but...
- touch screen has bad response/sensibility, very difficult to use, may lose your patience sometimes
- slow menu response
- menu not friendly
- almost impossible to use it as an internet tablet/browser
- wifi connection not stable
- battery duration not so long, expecially if display is on (videos)

An excellent media player if it is stored on the Archos, does not support Flash Player so You Tube and other sites like that are out of the question. Come on Archos!

I use this internet tablet everyday, mostly for music that's why I choose this one, because of the 500Go hard drive space, cause I need a lot of storage for all my music library. Sometime it freeze up, when I pass too quickly from the fm radio to the music or vice versa, or from an application to an other, but it's a little computer, so if you ask him too much things in the same time, it freeze, but if you are gentle with him he never freezes. But beside this little con, I really like this machine. The movies on it is also really beautiful, it's not a big screen, but when you travel it's fun to have that and watch your favorite movie.

Its good, dont get me wrong. But, I think it should either be an mp3/video player or the internet tablet, not both. Make one awesome product and sell a heap, instead of something that does not really sell itself.
You cannot charge and load movies at the same time. So you have to recharge over and over to fill the 500GB HD.
Battery should be 10 hours not 4-5.
