Seriously, when you buy this thing with the RVM package you are getting a pretty nice 10ft boom pole for like $15. This isn't carbon fiber, and it isn't the fanciest thing in the world, but dang for the price in the package it is a steal.
The grippy area on the handle is nice and long so you don't have to decide exactly where to hold. The section locks are pretty good, not great, but totally useable.
The, somewhat, annoying thing that I saw right out of the box was that I had to use a light stand 3/8-1/4 reversal stud to make it possible to attach a cold shoe. The whole point of this thing is that it goes with the video mic right? Well...not exactly, the Video mic isn't 3/8 threaded, which the boom pole is. But the female reducer, some 1/4" threaded rod, wing nuts, and a cold shoe and I am in business. So, be aware this might not exactly work for you out of the box. If you have some lighting stuff laying around and you're money.

I have two of these for work making short documentaries in random places around Latin America. Indoor, outdoor, it's a pretty good boom pole. It's light and can be compact, which is great for travel.
I use it with an SGM-1X - Shotgun Mic, and I made the purchase after reading a review online of someone else who used the same combination. It does work, barely. The threads on the end of the pole screw into the secondary hole on the mic mount by less than half an inch, and will easily unscrew by the weight of an XLR cord if I am not careful.
Given another chance, and if I could find another pole with the same lightness but a better way to attach my mic, I would go for that pole instead.

Bought this with the RODE Videomic. Easy to operate, and very lightweight.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I use this for filming both online videos and full on cinematic style shooting and it's equally great for both. Easy to use, easy to screw on attachments, feels solid in the hand, doesn't weigh much, and feels like it will last me a long time.
This definitely beats using a painters pole as a boom as this is *much more compact and easy to travel with. Looking for a cheap boom pole that will get the job done? This is it.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
At less than seven feet, this boom pole is not useful in every situation, but it does the job in many cases. Keep in mind this pole is NOT made to receive and conceal the mic cable. You'll have to tie or Velcro the cable to the pole to keep it neat and out of frame.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I'm an amateur document videographer and glad to have something simple. The main thing was that it has the right screw head on the end -- the paint handle was too difficult to adapt for the task.
Its not the same quality as those costing hundreds more, but it will do the job I want it to do.

This pole does it's job for the price. Sure, you can get much lighter and stronger poles, but for the price this one works wonderfully. The twist-locking extensions are easy to use, and it extends very far without bending too much under weight. The grip is also really nice.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I used this pole when I used a Rode Microphone for a company I used to work with. Great length and did everything I needed it to do.Now I've just gotten in my SMX-10 stereo mic, which I decided to get over the Rode Videomic, because it's a little less expensive. I don't know if Rode has set this up, but I can't get my SMX-10 to connect to the pole... What a pain! If you know how I can attach them and I just sound silly on here please email me @ kbodonne[@] (don't spam only serious help :)Other than the incompatibility issues I've used this before with all Rode products and the pole is sturdy, long enough, and easily adjustable with the twist grip action.

A good way to put this is, "best bang for your buck!" this is the cheapest boom pole, great for Rode mic's, and it is worth every penny! Super lightweight. I think its worth a lot more then what it is priced at right now.
