The Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Monopod is a telescoping aluminum support for video cameras that features a robust fluid element at its base. That's the feature that set apart its predecessor, the 562B. The four-section 562B-1 improves upon that signature fluid-cartridge base with a more rugged fluid element for smoother panning.
The monopod is designed for use with camcorders weighing up to 17.6 lb. The included 357PLV quick-release plate features both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting studs plus a standard video pin, and it slides to adjust the camera's center of balance. That way your monopod balances correctly on its three retractable feet even it has an uneven payload. The 5626B folds down to a sleek 27.2" for transport.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod w/ Plate:
I've used this monopod for serveral video shoots with my Canon 60D. It is great for shooting in crowded environments. I have found it stable, easy to carry, quick to adjust and allows for some smooth movement when needed. My only complaint is sometimes the feet stick when being adjusted, but it's never been anything that couldn't be fixed in a few seconds.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod w/ Plate:
... And so far, so good, ease & quickness of use is essential as we are shooting a doc series with multiple story lines and locations popping up at a moment's notice. It's doing it's job and I really like the panning and tilting that can take place because of the swivel base - I'm actually not using the fluid head because of this. The fold up tripod base - great!! And as I say, that quick release is a godsend. Also, I've got the Sony Ex 3 pretty loaded up with small monitor, wireless and top light and it seems to be handling the weight ok.
I do have one complaint and it's with Manfrotto,, not with the product. I've lost the card that the woman from Manfrotto gave me at the Service Photo Sale in Baltimore on Nov 5th. She sold me the other style monopod & a fluid head. In that monopod the legs unscrew from inside the monopod, (they also CLOmP around inside - so not good for audio & video), then you get them out and screw the 3 legs into the base - time consuming and NOISy!! Anyhow, she never tells me about this new product, which I love, so I end up spending more money on an inferior product!! Angry - Manfrotto - want to buy the other stick & fluid head back??

I'm a professional documentary film maker. I bought this monopod to use with my existing Manfrotto 701HDV video head. They work perfectly together. I'm using this setup at times were setting up a tripod is not possible, either because of time constraints or location.
It's really easy to use, and makes my life so much easier in finding the right composition.
I use it with my Sony EX3 and my HD-SLR's
Would recommend this product to anyone serious about videography.

I use this head on top of A Manfrotto monopod for wedding videography, it works great. The head is very smooth and has a 3/8mm screw on the bottom so its compatible with almost any tripod. A 1/4mm on top for any camera. No negatives great price and very smooth panning L to R and Up & Down.

It is the most convenient monopod when used with the 701 head. For an event shooter this is a must have. The amount of shots you can achieve with it are endless.

One step up in-terms of stability of from a standard monopod and definitely lighter and more agile than a tripod. This provides a versatile run-and-gun option, though it takes some getting used to (e.g. it tilts from the base at the bottom, not from the head at the top - problematic if standing close to a railing). Nevertheless, it's well-built and certainly makes my life easier!

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod w/ Plate:
The sturdiness of the monopod and quick release features were just what I was looking for in my video applications. The fluid "head" drag at the base of the pole makes for great pans. Not having a ball head (561B) under the camera to do tilts and pans is not a disadvantage in the abuse of "run and gun" ENG situations I put it thru in a heavier camera rig.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod w/ Plate:
I do a lot of shooting in operating rooms where a full tripod is not appropriate. This monopod comes in very handy for that application. I also really love the quick release head for hand holding. The tripod can then placed out of the way--standing up. I wished I would have sprung for the HD-1 head. Maneuvering can be awkward because there the head doesn't tilt. I wish the manufacturer had thought about a carrying bag/case. I tried another monopod bag but it didn't work.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod w/ Plate:
Mine is mounted with a Manfrotto 701HDV head.
After shifting to the 562B-1 for news and weddings (from a tripod) I'd sum up the transition in one word "LIBERATING". Any video shooter seeking to achieve consistent and very fluid moves, whilst being ultra mobile, should seriously consider this monopod.
Of course, shooting video with a monopod won't yield the rock steady shots, as with a locked off tripod, but with a normal or wide lens, I've been very satisfied with the images achieved.
The fluid base helps immensely when panning, it really does help to smoothen the movement (though there is a learning curve to keeping the stick vertical whilst panning). The articulating ball and retractable tripod feet at the bottom provide stable and controlled positioning.
The quality of construction overall looks great, with all flip locks and components having a reassuring solidity to them.
Some may say that the closed length of this monopod is a little long, I gladly accept this trade off for it's extra height advantage.
I hate owning equipment that is cumbersome to use, or that isn't used often, but for the foreseeable future my camera has a new favorite perch!.
A very handy tool for anybody seeking a sturdy, tall and very well built video monopod.
Highly recommended.
