Even before you turn it on, the Panasonic TC-P50S30 50" Class VIERA S30 Series 1080p Plasma TV enhances your environment by simply being a beautiful object. It's when you fire it up, however, that the magic begins. Don't be dismayed when others in the room fail to respond to your conversation. This is one very large TV; resistance is futile. Just give up and enjoy the show.
The 10,000 hour 1080p panel is capable of displaying 6,144 shades of gradation, the benefit of which is most obvious in pure rich blacks. Vivid is the key word in the TC-P50S30's design. The 600Hz Subfield drive insures that each individual pixel remains lit for the minimum time possible to reduce after effects. This is especially important in sports and action sequences. And speaking of action, Game Mode tweaks the TC-P50S30's settings, prioritizing fast response and super-sharp detail for the lightening-fast gaming world.
The TC-P50S30's extensive connectivity has got your digital options covered with 3 HDMI connections, so you can switch from Xbox to PlayStation to TV as fast as you want to. Or you use the SD card slot or one of the 2 USB ports to enjoy music, videos and JPEG slide shows. If that's still not enough, the LAN port is your gateway to a world of online entertainment. Just press the VIERA Tools button on your remote. But that's not all your remote can do. Instead of juggling several remotes while you miss the kickoff, control all of your HDMI connected devices with just the VIERA remote. Setup is a snap. You can even go wireless with the optional WiFi adapter.
Finally, Panasonic has demonstrated its environmental commitment by eliminating lead and mercury from its panels while Energy Star compliance ensures that your TV will save you money while it helps preserve the environment.

Don't stand to close to the screen, you may loose your balance and fall in. It's big, very big at first, but big is good. Too bad every show isn't in HD. It's so sharp we are constantly saying things like "you can see the reflection in his eyes.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S30 50" Class VIERA S30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
This is my first HDTV so I wasn't sure what to expect in a TV. Being in the television business, I've seen plenty of HD monitors and they do look great and this one does, too--right out of the box. Most of the plasmas we have at our station are Panasonics and that was a selling point for me. This one is brand new so I haven't tried all the bells and whistles and I still have a tendency to try to get it to "look like" my old CRT but I think I'll get over that. Our son loves it when he hooks his Playstation to it and it appears to be a good gaming TV. So far, I'm very pleased with it. The only "con" I might have is program information--it will tell me what I'm watching on the channel I'm tuned to (I receive off air) whereas my old set top converter would let me check other channels and see what was playing on them before actually tuning to them but if this is the worst thing I can say about this TV then I think I made a very good choice.

Got a lot for the money! We use it for video games (Xbox) and cable TV. We watch DVDs through the Xbox. The most trouble so far is getting an HDMI Comcast (Xfinity) set top box to support the TV! Comcast ran out of such boxes in December 2011. It's a bit tinny sound-wise, but that's to be expected. External speakers are next on the list.

This was an upgrade to main TV from 40 inch to 50 inch as the prices have fallen. This TV is more energy efficient, has very sharp picture, and very good sound. I like the internet connectivity although I wish that there was more direct content.

We like plasma because we need a wide viewing angle and bright colors for our situation. This is a superior set of its kind because Panasonic makes a highly reliable plasma, the picture quality is excellent, and the set is light and compact for its size. It takes scarcely any time to set up. [...]

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S30 50" Class VIERA S30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
Bought this tv to replace a 12 year old "big screen" 55" monster. Had to buy a credenza for it to sit on and fit in between my towers and under my light bridge. The TV looks like it was custom made for the location. Took me less than an hour to install (on stand) and set up. Great picture, HD via HDMI cable and outstanding video with my XBox and Kinnect. Minor issue... Brightness changes by it self up and down slightly. Will call service to check it out.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S30 50" Class VIERA S30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
I'm a bonehead when it comes to stuff like this. But after watching a 36" Sony Trinitron CRT for seven years, the difference is like day and night! Set-up was quick and easy using HDMI cables, and I even labeled the inputs. I'm using the Cinema setting, and the color is beautifully natural, no motion blur, no artificial blinding brightness (like LED's), and the leap to HD is incredible. [...]
