First and foremost, the Panasonic TC-P55ST30 55" Class VIERA ST30 Series 1080p 3D Plasma TV is one whopping big TV. Panasonic uses Full HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking Full HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.
Vividness is the key word in the TC-P55ST30's design. Besides 3D, the 600Hz Subfield Motion technology ensures action with striking clarity while gamers will appreciate the 1,080 lines of moving-picture resolution coupled with Game Mode which optimizes contrast and sharpness and accelerates image processing.

Newly developed phosphors with minimal afterimages and a new motion compensating technology have made it possible to render faster-moving images with greater sharpness. This far surpasses the APDC moving-picture resolution measurement standard of 5 seconds by providing a moving-picture resolution of 1,080 lines at the 1.5-second level. And it shows the inherently clear motion of VIERA TVs in both 2D and 3D images

- By combining the highly light-transmissive IPS Alpha Panel and high-brightness backlight, Panasonic has attained both high contrast and low power consumption. Also, by detecting the contrasting parts of the scene, the backlight is adjusted to maintain a brightness that is optimal for each area. Deep blacks are reproduced with no fading. I purchased this TV to replace a 50" Samsung DLP that we have owned for 5+ years. I was happy with our old DLP, but this 55" plasma is leaps-and-bounds better. Technology marches on... For several months I performed online research and read numerous reviews. Initially torn between Samsung LED and Panasonic & LG Plasma, but settled on this Panasonic Plasma as the best value. The picture quality is awesome! And I have not yet even tried the 3D features. Initially I considered one of the higher-end Panasonic GT or VT series plasma units, but I am glad I went with this ST series. It more than meets my needs, and has numerous on-line applications to boot. No issues thus far.

This TV is the centerpiece for our living room media system. The stylish looks are great. The picture quality is outstanding and has many picture adjustments and modes that will fit any room situation. I couldn't ask for anything more in a large plasma TV.
Viera connect has a long way to go however. Viera connect has many built in apps with which you can stream music and movies from third party services. The interface for Viera connect is terrible and slow and the streaming technology is anything but sufficient. Not to mention the "shopping" app shows only Panasonic products.
Viera connect is a great first try for the internet TV age but if you are serious about streaming internet music and TV you'll need a media computer attached (eg. Mac Mini).
