First and foremost, the Panasonic TC-P55GT30 55" Class VIERA GT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV is one whopping big TV. Whenever this set is on get used to anyone else in the room drifting away from you in favor of the action on-screen. That being said, this is a TV that enhances your environment by simply being a beautiful object. It's when you fire it up, however, that it becomes obvious that the TC-P55GT30 is at the frontier of a flat panel breakthrough which turns traditional passive viewing into a completely interactive experience with a radically immersive element: 3D.
Panasonic uses Full HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through optional active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking Full HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.
The 10,000 hour 1080p panel is capable of displaying 6,144 shades of gradation, the benefit of which is most obvious in pure rich blacks. Vivid is the key word in the TC-P55GT30 design. The 600Hz Subfield drive insures that each individual pixel remains lit for the minimum time possible to reduce after effects. This is especially important in sports and action sequences. And speaking of action, Game Mode tweaks the TC-P55GT30's settings, prioritizing fast response and super-sharp detail to meet the demands of the lightening-fast gaming world.
The TC-P55GT30's extensive connectivity has got your digital options covered with 4 HDMI connections, so you can switch from Xbox to PlayStation to TV as fast as you want to. Or you use the SD card slot or one of the 3 USB ports to enjoy music, videos and JPEG slide shows. If that's still not enough, the LAN port is your gateway to a world of online entertainment. Just press the VIERA Tools button on your remote. But that's not all your remote can do. Instead of juggling several remotes while you miss the kickoff, control all of your HDMI connected devices with just the VIERA remote. Setup is a snap. You can even go wireless with the included WiFi adapter.
Finally, Panasonic has demonstrated its environmental commitment by eliminating lead and mercury from its panels while Energy Star compliance ensures that your TV will save you money while it helps preserve the environment.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P55GT30 55" Class VIERA GT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
This tv's great. I was a little disappointed at first but it was all in the tv picture settings. Once I changed it off of standard I was able to breath again. I do recommend doing a google search for custom tv picture settings. Other than that no issues. Also, I believe, you have to change the picture settings for each of your inputs. But once thats done, it stores it so you dont have to change it again... well I havnt had to yet. Maybe if there was a power failure. It is simple enough to do. I was not disappointed at all with this tv. I dont have the 3d glasses yet so I cant comment on that. Illuminated remote is a nice improvement over my other Panasonic.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P55GT30 55" Class VIERA GT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
The images on the TC-P55GT30 55" Plasma TV are truly top-notch. While entertaining company after getting this TV, my friends were astonished at how clear and vivid the picture and the colors were. We were watching underwater scenes on the National Geographic Channel and one friend commented, "That picture is so vivid and lifelike that it makes you feel like you're actually on vacation, scuba-diving there! If I had this TV, I wouldn't have to go anywhere for vacation!".
The TV is quite easy to setup externally and via the menus. It is also light enough that I was able to pick it up and set it carefully on the wooden table stand by myself. I could not manage lifting its 65" big brother plasma TV safely on my own, however.
Motion is very smooth and clear in any action scenes that we watched. Out of the box, the picture seems a little "dim". Make sure you use the remote to go into the menu system and set the Picture Mode to "Vivid" (or another setting). You'll then see the picture come to life. The screen is bright enough and very sharp, but it also will show reflections pretty easily (as most plasma TVs do). If you can control any light sources behind you to eliminate the reflections on the front screen, this is THE perfect TV for you! It's much cheaper than the newer comparable LED TVs, but it truly has a better-quality picture than the LED models. I compared them side-by-side in two local stores and was amazed. This plasma TV offers much better contrast for one and some of the expensive LED models still show "ghosting" during action scenes. Most home theater enthusiasts actually insist on getting the Panasonic plasma TVs for these reasons.
This is the third Panasonic Plasma TV that I purchased from B&H Photo recently and the prices and delivery service were the best. I'll keep buying from B&H!

Comments about Panasonic TC-P55GT30 55" Class VIERA GT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
I consider myself very tech savy. After days and hours of research with my soon to be father in-law we settled on this model for price to benefit. In lew of some comparable samsung models (UND7000 or 8000) we found this one to be the best bang for the buck. Best dark levels, amazing colors, and THX certified. We each purchased one and have been blown away by the picture. I have heard there can be a small break in period with plasmas....Not sure if there is truth in this but the picture has done nothing but get better with time. The only down side is if you plan to hookup older (pre-HDMI) accessories. There are limited plugs and they arent built in instead they are connected via adapter.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P55GT30 55" Class VIERA GT30 Series 1080p Plasma TV:
Delivery was fast and easy. Wall mounted it in my family room. Easy setup in THX mode - used CNET's recommended picture settings as a starting part. Great picture quality and black level from any viewing angle. Both HD and normal resolution cable TV picture quality is excellent. Download latest firmware from Panasonic for best results - zero fluctuating brightness issues. This is my 2nd Panasonic plasma - the first one is in my home theatre. Went with the GT series because I couldn't justify the VT price premium this time around. Highly recommended.

My first flat panel. A magnificent television/display. I have to keep pushing my jaw back up, the images are so astonishing. 3D & WiFi ready. The dongle works great. Added my password and the TV became another node on the network. The Viera interface is seems to tax the TV's processor. Mostly using an Apple TV component for content.

I haven't bought a new tv in 15 years so the differences are amazing. It is very big and the picture is great, very clear, and it makes it easy to adjust the picture. It makes watching tv a more enjoyable experience. Now we just need better shows
