The Toshiba 750GB Canvio USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive (Black) offers a digital storage capacity of 750GB and blazing transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps. It's compact, bus-powered, and has an internal shock sensor and anti-slip rubberized side grip for added durability and protection. Since it's bus-powered, you can easily take it wherever your laptop goes. For security, Toshiba includes preloaded backup software and 256-bit hardware encryption. You can customize your backup preferences and schedule, set a password and the Canvio will even remind you when it's running out of backup space. If needed, the USB 3.0 interface is backward compatible with a USB 2.0 interface. It's ready to go right out of the box and is certified to work with Windows XP, Vista and 7.

You'll have access to Simple Restore, which lets you recover a file - File/Folder Backup to find all media files to backup - Complete System Backup, which keeps a copy of everything on your computer - Disaster Recovery to boot to the drive and restore your entire system and - Drive Space Alert, which alerts you when you're running low on backup space. The Canvio Plus also lets you customize your backup preferences and schedule to suit your needs

I would like to use it to store movies and info but the USB3 cable is not working. I have looked at all the local computer stores and there is no quick fix to get this cable.... looks like I have to find it on the net! Kind of upset!

I haven't used this much yet but the thing I like most about it is the compact size. Slips nicely into my laptop case and is powered by USB, which is highly valuable feature for me.

I use this as a backup hard drive to sync all of my files to. There were no problems at all, I just plugged it in and started my backup. I do not have USB 3 right now but am happy to have that capability on my hard drive.
