The LG BD640 Blu-ray Disc Player w/ Wi-Fi is a full HD 1080p disc player that offers Wi-Fi readiness and loads of online content with streaming capability.
If you want to take advantage of the full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) found on Blu-ray discs along with high resolution output of your HDTV, this player can deliver the exquisite, clear visuals on Bluray movies. It supports output of 1080p/i, 720p, 480p/i at 24/60Hz so you can work with older equipment if you don't have HDMI-enabled devices.
Get online with the included Wi-Fi adapter when you connect to your home internet connection. Then, you can start enjoying online streaming of content from Netflix (with a subscription), VUDU, CinemaNow and YouTube to really keep you entertained. Since the BD640 supports BD Live 2.0 and BONUSVIEW, you can download and view extras like interactive chats, games and quizzes and use the picture-in-picture feature to view an additional source while you're watching a movie.
Built-in decoding for several Dolby and DTS audio formats means you can achieve a detailed, enveloping multi-channel sound field. A front panel USB port allows you to playback MP3 and JPEG photo files without reaching behind the unit. This player supports multiple disk and file formats for versatile entertainment options. If you have other LG devices with SimpLink functionality, you can streamline control to one remote.
If you're looking for a full HD Blu-ray player that supports Wi-Fi and online streaming for additional entertainment options, the BD640 is a smart choice.

I primarily use this for the steaming video over wi-fi but I'm not certain where a problem originates. The Netflix connection is slow and cumbersome compared to the website. I suspect it's my wi-fi transmitter lacking in bandwidth. So I'll have to get back to y'all on that aspect after I get a new wi-fi. Otherwise, it functions very well playing DVD, Blue Ray, CD music ect. Crystal clear picture and excellent audio. I wish the Netgear included Pandora though. Please create firmware to add this to the mix. Quick loading tray and allows for software upgrades. All in all an excellent buy.

My TV shows a flashing globe on the screen whenever a DVD is played. From the online lg troubleshooter this is a common problem that can't be fixed at home so you mail the unit back and for a $69 dollar labor fee they send you a refurbished unit back hmm seeing as you can buy a refurbished unit for the same price there is no warranty buy from another Manufacturer

Comments about LG Electronics BD640 Blu-ray Disc Player w/ Wi-Fi:
I am not a big user of the DVD capability, but those I have played did a great job of up-converting. Even the music CD's that I play sound better. So far I am very pleased. I bought a LG TV last year and since it lived up to my expectations, I bought the LG DVD player.

Comments about LG Electronics BD640 Blu-ray Disc Player w/ Wi-Fi:
This device has an excellent video quality and is very easy to use. Basically you can just plug it into the power outlet and the HDMI cable and that's it. Also the user interface is very friendly. Yo can set up your WLAN as easy as any other device. It has a great price and the DVD up-scaling video image is good too.

Comments about LG Electronics BD640 Blu-ray Disc Player w/ Wi-Fi:
I've had this player for about six months now and i could not be more pleased with it. The Blu-ray picture quality is stunning. This replaced my old Sony BDP-S300 and it blows it away. I like all the internet streaming stuff but for me the picture quality is where it's at. The up-scaling of DVD's is great also. And the sound quality over my surround sound system is movie theater like. I would highly recomment this player to anyone who is looking for quality Blu-ray and DVD play back at an affordable price.

Overall, very satisfied with this device. However, it is very odd that the Wi-Fi fob connects via a "front only" USB Port.
