I use this product in my condo to connect my laptop to my mixed wired/wireless, Windows/Linux network.
Wireless performance is good. I can see ten or so other SSID's from my neighbors, which is why I got a dual band unit. I read reviews saying the unit runs hot, but I did not experience unusual heat. One thing I like about this design is that all the lights, controls and switch ports are on the same side, somewhat like a commercial unit. On the other hand, I tend to prefer square, metal box design, so if you like sleek, low profile plastic, you're good. It would have been nice to have a wall mount kit with this type of box to stick it out of the way, instead of having another box of wires laying about. The admin function accessed through the browser is remarkably uniform among Linksys products, nice for prior owners.
All in all a very decent unit at a good price. Purchase was easy using Google checkout and B&H had the best out the door cost.

I purchased this router along with a network attached storage device in hopes to backup family photos, videos, and music and stream them to our TV. The setup was really simple and configuring the device was very intuitive. I'm somewhat new to networking so I assumed I would be able to connect wirelessly to the router at 300Mbps because I had "wireless-n" available on my laptop. I quickly noticed that I was only connecting at 72Mbps and, long story short, the full 300Mbps connection is only available if all of a lot of technical requirements are met. Even though my wireless was wireless-n it did not support 5GHz and the 40MHz signal is only available if there is very low network traffic in your area. So the fastest connection I'll ever get with this is 72Mbps. So my advice would be to do your homework before you purchase this. For me this was a VERY small improvement over my previous wireless-g router that connected at 54Mbps.

I was using an Apple router as well as an older Linksys router and replaced both with this one. The network is much faster now and I have less to fiddle with. My weathercam now streams flawlessly and network access seems zippier.
Setup was easy although I chose not to use the included configuration software. If you don't want the complexity of setting it up manually then you have the option of using their software.

Bought this to replace a very old Liknsys B router. The signal is significantly stronger and all the laptops and other computers in the house register a "full strength" signal where as before I was getting 1/2 to 3/4 of a signal. Also use for streaming Netflix with Apple TV. Works flawlessly 35 feet away through two walls. Doesn't seem to be any loss of signal. Others say it has a tendancy to run hot. Mine's warm but don't all electronics emit some amount of heat? Just make sure it's sitting out in the open where is gets adequate circulation of air.
