The Zing Standard SLR Action Cover (Black) is a one-piece, wrap-around neoprene cover that stretches over the lens and self-secures without buckles, snaps or zippers. The case has a removable elastic waist strap. When used in conjunction with the photographer's own camera neck strap, the waist strap holds the camera tight to the body. Camera can be removed from cover for shooting without having to unfasten the waist strap.

This works very well with "manual, mechanical, metal" 35 mm SLR's such as the Nikon FM2, the Pentax Spotmatic, etc. For the Nikon, the lens protrusion is a little bit baggy with a 50 mm lens, but can easily accommodate a 105 mm (f/2.5). This Zing cover is too large for the more compact 35 mm SLRs such as the Olympus OM series and the Pentax MX and ME series, and too small for "wunderplastik" cameras such as the Nikon F4. The chest strap is a nice idea that allows one to keep the case somewhere handy while at the same time having the camera completely unencumbered with a soft case when in use. The only downside I've found is that the quick-release buckles for the chest strap are sewn in, so one cannot remove them for when a slimmer case is desired without making a permanent alteration.

I've only had it for a few weeks but this is just what I was looking for. A cover that would protect my camera if I didn't want to keep on taking it in and out of my case. I Have a Canon T13, it was a tight fit at first but it stretches a bit after use. I wouldn't advise purchasing if you have a camera with a battery pack. It might not fit

Comments about Zing Designs Standard SLR Action Cover:
A camera sleeve is a great idea. Cases are so bulky (and ugly!!), and if I'm not carrying around lenses I often just want a slightly protective shell to keep your baby from the rain, bumps, covetous eyes, and just that horrible psychological feeling of naked vulnerability. Neoprene is protective, waterproof, stretchy, light, and just overall a perfect material for this.
BUT. Getting my camera in and out of this thing is a crazy hassle. It just takes too long, and it doesn't get much better with practice. This wouldn't be such a problem if you could open it partially so that you could shoot while the camera was still in the sleeve, but that's impossible--a silly thing for the designers to not consider. Moreover, this sleeve deals very poorly with the camera's existing strap--there's no real way to take the camera out while leaving the sleeve still attached to your SLR's strap, which leaves you the sleeve's own waist straps as the only way to keep it from just dropping to the ground.
Let me repeat that, because it is truly the most egregious design element. WAIST STRAP. For a camera SLEEVE. Just thinking about it is making me less cool.

Fits easily in my backpack, but can also be strapped onto my waist while skiing. Easy to access when photo opportunity presents itself. It is light too.

I was going to the Great Smoky Mountains and I wanted a case for my Canon Rebel SLR that was compact and protective at the same time. This case nearly served it's purpose. It's basically a second skin for the camera and it fit perfectly. It was very easy to remove.
The only downside was the adjustable waist band. The band itself is a really good idea - when I remove the camera I don't have to worry about carrying the case because it's secured around my waist. My only complaint is that when the camera is in the case, you have to be constantly tightening the band because of the weight from the camera. It was slightly annoying because the band was too loose when the camera was in (heavy weight)and too tight without the camera. Aside from that, it really helped with all my hiking.

I am having trouble finding a soft cover to fit my Nikon D90 and thought that I would order this cover. It is too small which is why I gave it four stars. There needs to be more dimensions given on all of the covers. It's a shame that this one doesn't fit because the quality of the cover is very good. [...]

I used this cover in conjunction with the Bino/Cam Harness, elastic version (Op/Tech USA), and it is great ! The camera is protected, but very easy to "unwrap" and use. The design is simple and effective. I think it would work fine also with your present neck strap, using the included waist strap.

I hike and climb in the winter and needed something that let me get to the camera quickly but would not swing around or catch on anything. This works perfectly and is well made. A+
