The LG 42LV5500 42" Smart LED TV packs a vast amount of great high-end specs and convenience features in an affordable TV that will complement any room in your house.
The combination of dynamic contrast ratio, which delivers a ratio of 4,000,000:1 and full 1080p HD, makes the 42LV5500 a remarkable TV by any standard. But that's just the beginning. LG hasn't sacrificed creature comforts for strong specs.
The TV includes a revolutionary way to access limitless content, thousands of movies, customizable apps, videos and the best of the Web all organized in a simple to use interface. That's what you get with an LG Smart TV experience.
Since every room is different, the 42LV5500 employs an AV Mode (Cinema, Sports, Game) to match the color and light level of your specific space. If you would like to take it further, you can activate the Picture Wizard II self calibration function and take charge of specific quality settings like sharpness, backlight level, tint, color and black level. The 42LV5500 is also ISFccc Ready, meaning that it can be professionally calibrated to your spec and the settings saved as a preset. Switching from custom user-selected settings back to the factory default settings can be done with the touch of a button.
The 42LV5500's wide connectivity, which includes four HDMI connections, enables one cable connection of your A/V components. The USB inputs allow you to share JPEG slide shows and videos with your friends. Real Cinema technology displays HD movies just as they were shot in 24p (24 fps) for an authentic theater experience at home, while Dolby Digital 5.1 Decoder balances the voice channel in relation to swelling music or background noise, so you never miss a word of dialogue.
In addition to all of the above, the 42LV5500 is loaded with convenience features like a sleep timer, parental control, closed captioning A/V input labeling and favorite channel programming. Lastly, Energy Star compliance means that you'll be saving money while helping to save the environment.

The TV was purchased for our den, and it is the perfect size. The clarity and color are fantastic. Very easy to set up, including the effortless wi-fi connection. Only wish there was another set of A-V ports. Plan to get sound bar to bring the sound quality up to level of the picture.

We actually already had an older version of the 42LV5500, but this newer model is better with the features it offers. Internet enabled (I recommend a wireless keyboard to use the internet), apps and games for the kids. Picture and sound quality are fantatic - you feel as though you're in the room with the actors on the show you're watching.

We love this TV...best electronics purchase we've ever made! My husband can't quit talking about the quality of the picture when he watches sports. I am very pleased at how easy it was to set up everything and how simple it is to navigate all the options. So far, I haven't run across anything that is not great about this TV!

I chose this TV for its size, price and features, and I have not been disappointed. This TV is my primary TV and I wanted something that could connect to the internet and display sporting events without the blur that I had on my old LCD TV.
I have used it to watch programs using Hulu+ and have not had any buffering issues (although that may be more to do with my wireless router than the TV itself). I have watched football games and have not noticed the usual blurriness.
The price was excellent and, as always, B&H is a pleasure to buy from. Delivery was prompt and I couldn't have had a more positive experience.

this is an early review--only had it for about 2 weeks; but I tip my hat to LG for producing a great unit and B&H as always delivering. Overall picture quality is great and the inclusion of the wifi adaptor and magic wand remote are class moves by LG--in this size you really cannot do better on a value basis.
My only suggestions are they should add or move one of the HDMI ports from the side to theback for a straight shot for connections. The smatTV apps are nice but I find the browser is very slow and makes one think nettop unit to the scene.
I will be interested to see if my wirelss keyboard trakball will work via the usb-in ports.
This unit is impressing me enough to consider a second one!!!!
