I'm a photographer trying to learn the art of video capture and editing. For over a year I struggled with Adobe Premiere Elements and the Cyberlink product. My workstation is quite powerful, but Elements, even the 64-bit version, choked on HD video and refused to recognize 1080 60P. The Cyberlink software just didn't produce crisp output, even in Blu-ray format. After a bit of research, I found Edius Neo. It's a miracle.... a night-and-day difference using this powerful subset of a professional editor versus the consumer software I'd been using.
The other reviewers are correct that the learning curve is a bit steep, but there are online tutorials and a great, but small, user forum to help. There are also for-purchase training tutorials (I used one of these). Edius seems to be a niche product...NEO even more so. There aren't the hordes of users you would find with other consumer editors, but the word needs to get out about Edius Neo. It's a great product.

I'm an amateur wildlife photographer trying to incorporate video into my work. Since I use Adobe products in my stills workflow, I bought Adobe Premiere Elements as a "starter" video editor. Even though my computer (graphics, memory, processor) is quite powerful and I was using the new 64-bit Premiere, the software just didn't perform very well with HD video. I then tried the Cyberlink product and found the features great, but the output lacking. So....Edius Neo 3 was next up. Wow, it's a night-and-day difference. I can import 1080 60P video and edit away... no problem. The BluRay output is stunning.
As mentioned by other reviewers, Edius Neo isn't intuitive and aside from training videos, there is no place to go to learn the software. It seems to be a niche European product with a small community of users. This is just about the only downside to using NEO. NEO is a subset of a high-grade professional product and it shows in features and end results.

Made a major upgrade in my video editing capabilities, going from Windows Movie Maker to Edius Neo 3. The Edius Neo 3 is essentially professional level video editing software, with the only difference between it and true pro level is the lack of some features. However, it is not a 'dumbed down' verison of the pro version; rather it is the pro version with some options removed.
IF you have a powerful computer, and IF you are a moderately high level computer user, this is the software to use. I primarily bought it to handle the 1080/60p that my new camcorder puts out, and it handles it without any hesitation. Just for laughs I put in some 1080/60p footage into Windows Live Movie Maker. It took Movie Maker about 30 minutes to digest it, and it played back jerky and disjointed. It took Edius Neo 3 about 5 seconds to load the video, and it plays back perfectly.
This is not software for the faint of heart, but once you get going on it, you feel like you're editing for ESPN or Steve Spielberg. Although more expensive than most consumer video editing software, this is truly a case of you get what you pay for.

If you're looking for feature rich video editing software for a great price, look no further.
I'm a novice, but I had my son go through this software before I bought it. He went to school for professional video production software (I can't mention the name, but it's only available for Mac).
He said the only thing that takes some getting used to is the color correction features and that the titles are always on top of the video track.
