The Digital AV Adapter from Apple makes it easy to output video from your iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th Gen), iPad, or iPad 2 to your HDTV. It connects to your device's dock connector port, allowing you to connect your iOS device to your HDTV via HDMI.
In addition to adding an HDMI port to your device, the Digital AV Adapter also features a female dock port. This allows you to charge and sync your device while outputting HD video at the same time! This guarantees that your battery won't run down while you're using your iOS device to watch a movie on your HDTV.
The adapter supports 720p HD output when playing games or running apps. Photo slideshows and movies are shown in 720p as well. In addition to carrying a digital video signal, the HDMI output also transmits audio to compatible displays. The HDMI cable, dock cable, and AC adapter are not included with this adapter. Most iOS devices ship with a dock cable and AC adapter, but you'll have to provide your own HDMI cable.

great view information on the ipad tv. But it has some problems such as viewing photos is restricted to that proportion of the ipad, it does not happen with the preview video that takes the ratio of the TV screen.

The Digital AV Adapter works flawlessly to deliver a beautiful picture through a HDMI connection to my friend's two TVs, the TV at the Apple Store, and just about everywhere except MY TVs. I tried this with two different TVs at my house, and it would not work to output anything that was remotely useable. It would be a great device, if it worked with all TVs.
