The 2TB Deskstar 3.5" SATA Internal Hard Drive Kit from Hitachi is a stellar upgrade for your desktop computer's hard disk drive. The hard disk drive with this kit holds a huge capacity of 2TB and fits into your computer's 3.5" drive bay. It features a SATA III interface that can deliver data transfer speeds up to 6Gbps. Because this HDD uses a ramp load/unload design that eliminates direct contact between the read/write heads and the disk platter, the risk of shock damage is minimized. This design also improves the drive's reliability and power efficiency.

I purchased a 2TB disk drive from Hitachi because they purchased the IBM disk drive business when IBM downsized a few years back. I believe this is still the best disk drive on the market. Came with a full 3 year warranty, which tells me they are standing behind the quality of their drives! Plugged right in, powered up and works well. I'm using it as a backup drive, so it is updated with the disk image daily.

Bought two Hitachi Deskstars, excellent price, popped them into my Mac Pro, RAIDED them and that was it.
Great price, carefully packed for shipping, and humming away.

This is not a bad HDD. I would prefer a faster spool time, but for what I am using these for, my array is satisfied with the transfer rate.

Good bang for the buck with excellent specs and came with mounting screws. Was a bit concerned with the comments of DOA issues but this one after 4 days seems to be working quite well. Would have been nice if it were bundled with a cable.

I installed this drive in my mac tower to use as a workdrive for my video projects. I mirror the content onto a slower drive (5900 RPM) and you can really tell the difference between them. The price here was very reasonable compared to other venders.

Im using this drive in a dual boot system with removable SATA drive bays. I mainly do wedding videos and this is being used as a data drive. Price was good considering drive prices right now. The drive is fast and has increased my render times.

Fifth 2TB 7200RPM Drive from Hitachi that I've purchased. Each one is fast, quiet and thus far, reliable. Can't ask much more from it except perhaps lower price...

Installed quickly, and the drive is super quiet, and very fast. Installed two in a MacPro, one for virtual instruments, the other for sound design / pro tools samples. Much faster than the Seagates that came installed with my computer, and equally if not more quiet.

Comments about Hitachi 2TB Deskstar 3.5" SATA Internal Hard Drive Kit:
I've ordered four of these drives total now and 2 of them have been dead on arrival. It's ridiculous. Thankfully B&H is very understanding and has let me return the drives that were dead. If they aren't dead on arrival, then they work great, but 50% of the ones I've ordered showing up DOA is just ridiculous.
