On the plus side it is easy to use with a couple exceptions and it can create some very nice results.

The problems,

1. It crashes or locks up. This happens often in the motion title areas and other areas as well.
2. Trimming 1280 and 1920 rez video and 60fps video has major problems. When you try to set the end of beginning, the program changes the points wildly. This happens both with the slider and when you try to enter the exact time by keyboard or up and down clicking. The work around is to set the endpoints or startpoint with the main slider before pulling up the screen to trim. It is hard to be precise this way, but it usually works.
3. When I added a wave file cleaned up by Sound Booth, it sounded like total noise. This was fixed by going back and saving it as a MP3 in Sound Booth.
4. The ability to change volume levels need to be improved. It is hard to click on the precise area to set or move a change point.

There are a lot of other bugs in this program. It is not even at Beta test status yet. It is hgard for me to switch, as I have been using it since version 3. I have paid for a lot of plugins and that would be money down the drain if I switched to another product. I am also not happy that the score fitting program I was use to using no longer works with this version. The only hope is that they will eventually fix all the bugs.

Bottom line is that it will do the job, but save your project often and realize that you may have to do the same work more than once.

I will skip over the fact that there are lots of neat features. This product has one failing, and it's a miserable one. It crashes. It crashes constantly. Avid support is clueless and suggests stupid things (like disabling Windows themes). Seriously, if your program crashes because of the default Windows 7 theme, then somebody (besides Microsoft) hasn't done their homework. I cannot understand how a software package AT VERSION 15 can be so bug riddled that it isn't even close to stable. Create a DVD menu -CRASH! Change a menu thumbnail -CRASH! It sometimes just crashes randomly two hours into a render. Nice. When using it with a Pinnacle 710 USB capture board, your captures randomly turn black & white halfway through. The list of bugs goes on and on, and I doubt B&H would give me enough space here to list them all. The bottom line is that once again Avid rushes a program to market that isn't ready. Talk to them on the phone and they act like you're an idiot. "You mean you haven't disable the Aero theme yet?" No, dude I didn't disable the default Windows theme as my first troubleshooting step. Once I did, it made about a 20% reduction in crashing but not much more. Gimme a break. What a waste of [$]. I won't even go into how lame their web purchasing is, but suffice it to say that it took my money and I had to email and call and practically harass 5 different people over the course of a week to actually obtain my product. I should have just got a refund then....

I bought a new computer and decided now was the time to upgrade my video editing software. I had been using Pinnacle Studio Plus 9.4 since 2004. The 9.4 worked most of the time, but still caused a lot of problems. It crashed often when editing or during the burning of a DVD. Sometimes it would become sluggish making every keystroke or click of the mouse a chore. So far, Studio 15 has been very stable. It runs extremely fast on my new computer. It burns discs faster than with Studio 9.4. It is a vast improvement. I can edit HD video now and burn to a Blu-ray disc or in AVCHD on a standard DVD. I use the program in my home business. The layout has not changed much. So, I did not have to learn a new program.
