You'll find six HDMI inputs and one HDMI output as well as component and composite video connections, and AV front inputs to connect a USB memory device or your iPod or iPhone. The RX-V571 is compatible with your iPod and iPhone either through the front-panel USB port or optional docking accessories, and it's even Bluetooth ready with an optional accessory. With CINEMA DSP you can enjoy realistic sound field reproductions like movie theaters and even concert halls.
The on-screen GUI offers a clean, simple interface to make operation of the unit simple. It can even show album art and provides a choice of multiple languages and is even visible over 3D images. - Six HDMI Inputs With 3D and ARC
- The RX-V571 offers six HDMI inputs and one HDMI output that support 3D pass through over HDMI from 3D compatible Blu-ray, games and broadcast devices to a 3D compatible HDTV. So if you've got the necessary accessories for 3D entertainment, you can enjoy the realistic, wraparound visuals of 3D video. With support for an Audio Return Channel (ARC), you can use a single HDMI connection to transmit digital audio from your TV back to the receiver without needing an additional cable.
- Analog Upscaling to Full HD 1080p
- This receiver is capable of interlaced to progressive upscaling, so that's good news for your collection of DVDs and other analog source materials. Since the RX-V571 can upscale them all the way up to 1080p resolution, you can enjoy analog sources in near-HD picture quality, on par with the stunning imagery produced by the Blu-ray format. Additionally, this receiver features precise motion adaptive and edge adaptive deinterlacing and multi-cadence detection, including 3:2 pulldown.

- Dolby's next generation lossless technology developed for high definition disc-based media is Dolby TrueHD, and with this receiver you can take full advantage of this audio format. It supports processing of this advanced Dolby codec to deliver an enveloping sound field that is bit-for-bit equivalent to the master recording. - Yamaha's Cinema DSP 3D delivers a wide, high and dense sound field. Virtual Presence Speaker allows you to enjoy 3-dimensional sound without the actual use of presence speakers. The actually measured sound field data contain the information of the height of the sound images. CINEMA DSP 3D mode achieves the reproduction of the accurate height of the sound images so that it creates precise and intense stereoscopic sound fields in your listening space.
- SILENT CINEMA
- Through a pair of headphones, you can enjoy large-scale surround sound thanks to SILENT CINEMA. This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology developed by Yamaha to allow you to listen privately to your favorite movies or other multi-channel sources. Virtual CINEMA DSP allows you to enjoy the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound without using surround speakers and can be used with the front, center or presence speakers or even just front left and right speakers.
- Compressed Music Enhancer
- This receiver offers sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to allow playback that actually improves the sound of your compressed music formats like MP3 and WMA. Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer enables richer, smoother highs and lows to reproduce your music as close to the original as possible.
- SCENE Device Control
- The RX-V571 offers four SCENE buttons to afford seamless operation of your new receiver. They come with default settings for DVD viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. At the touch of a button, you can enjoy any of these sources. Additional SCENE settings are available like iPod Listening, XM Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing so you can customize your shortcuts. You can browse and select the settings easily by changing the Input via the front panel and watching the on-screen display. You can make settings for one time only, or make them replace the original default settings and even change the SCENE names to fit your liking.
- YPAO Automatic System Calibration
- Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) employs a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for your room, wherever your speakers are placed. It checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker and then sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets several parameters like the speaker size, distance of the speakers and even sound pressure level. This process allows you to achieve optimum sound for your space.
- iPod and Bluetooth Options for Portable Music Listening
- The RX-V571 is compatible with the optional Yahama Universal iPod/iPhone Dock so you can connect your iPod or iPhone to enjoy your portable music. You can listen and operate your iPod or iPhone with the included remote control while charging the battery. With the optional YBA-10 Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver you can enjoy A2DP audio streaming. This way you can wirelessly enjoy music from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, portable device, or personal computer.

Comments about Yamaha RX-V571 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver:
This is a solid, great-sounding receiver that did everything I expected it to, and more. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of control over operation of the device. Several configurable options for each speaker independently, including a spectrum equalizer for each speaker. Full control of naming each input. Choice of source for subwoofer audio. All of this is done with menus on the HDMI output display.
This thing has more inputs than I could possibly use. I am using HDMI and a couple of composite inputs for older devices. I use ARC (Audio Return Channel) with the output on the TV. This is the lowest model in Yamaha's product line that offers upscaling of composite inputs to HDMI.
I wanted a device with no internet streaming (because it is silly to have it on all the devices in the system). I do, however, make use of the USB port on the front to play music files stored there.
