The USB-P from Peavey is a USB "DI" box for connecting a computer audio output to a live sound system. The unit features transformer-isolated balanced stereo outputs to help eliminate ground loops, often a problem when connecting computer audio to a sound system, especially if a projector is connected to the computer.

Comments about Peavey USB-P - USB "Direct Box" for Outputting Computer Audio to PA System:
I use this product to connect my home computer to some powered studio monitors that only accept either XLR or TRS connections. I previously had an M-Audio Fast Track Pro - 4 x 4 Mobile USB box that somehow allowed lots of noise onto the line even though I was using balanced TRS cables. Since I couldn't switch to XLR with the previous card I decided to go with this box (which is 1/3 of the price of the M-Audio) and have so far had spectacular results. The sound quality is nice and clear now, with no random noise on the line from nearby electronics or other RF interference.
I should say that I only listen to music currently, I'm not doing any kind of recording or mixing. I just want nice clean sound from a great set of speakers and this gets me exactly what I need at a great price point.
While this box doesn't allow lots of inputs or anything other than XLR out, it does what it is supposed to very well. I'm very happy with my purchase and have since returned by old sound card which preformed so poorly.
