Comments about Metz mecablitz 24AF-1 Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
Bought this to have something smaller/ligher than the Pentax 360 for travel, and also something with a better battery compartment cover. The unit is more powerful than expected. During tests, it easily illuminated a wall 20+ feet away at f8. It's PTTL only, no switch to manual, and no partial settings, but that can be done through the K5 body. With no tilt, I was able to get correct illumination for macro shots with the flash on hotshoe and subject ~6 inches in front of the lens. On a bracket connected with a TTL cord and the flash pointed down, it was necessary to adjust the output about -1.5 stops to get correct close-up illumination. Overall, a nice solid, powerful, simple little flash.

Comments about Metz mecablitz 24AF-1 Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
I already own a Metz 50 AF-1 but bought the 24 for my travel kit (Pentax K-r + Pentax 35mm f/2.4 + Metz 24). The Metz 50 is almost as large/heavy as the K-r body alone, it's okay to use with a 17-70 zoom plus Hama flash grip + TTL cord. But with just a tiny 35/2.4 lens, this Metz 24 sits on my K-r with great balance, suited to lightweight on-the-go situations.
