The Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Pentax Camera provides advanced flash technology in a slim design and at an affordable price. This flash offers straightforward performance with all controls intuitively arranged on the back panel. With a maximum guide number 44 for ISO 100/21° and 105mm, this flash delivers the power needed in various lighting conditions in TTL mode.
Among its controls is the ability to set 4 partial light levels according to a particular lighting scenario. The photographer also has the ability, depending on the camera, to synchronize to the first or second shutter curtain for greater flexibility in the lighting process.
This flash also offers a slave mode which, depending on the camera, makes it possible to perform wireless TTL flash operation. Other flash enhancing controls include a motor zoom function (24-105mm), a fully swiveling reflector with flip-out reflector card, and an integrated wide-angle diffuser (12mm). A USB port enables firmware updates for future compatibility.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
This Metz has about the same power as the Pentax 360 but is missing some options. However, that makes for MUCH simpler control buttons: on/off plus four buttons to control all available functions. There's both a diffuser and reflector built-in, although the latter is a little difficult to pull out. The battery compartment door seems to be significantly sturdier than on the Pentax model (a major flaw on the Pentax). The Metz tilts and swivels, but there is no down tilt. However, I was able to get good lighting & correct exposure for close-ups by simply extending the reflector and leaving the flash pointing straight forward (90 degree setting).

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
I use this flash on the camera and so far it's great. There are no harsh shadows on my subjects and bouncing from the ceiling or wall gives a great effect. I bought this after looking at other flashes for my Pentax and this seemed like a good fit and so far, I am very pleased with it.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
I use this flash with my aging but still awesome K100D. The flash's interface is superb, well lit buttons, just enough functionality. This combination certainly lacks some advanced features but if I have to use a complex studio-type lighting a manual mode is all that is needed. Also some creative use is possible with 2s self-timer release.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
I'm an amateur photographer who was seeking a step up in my indoor/night time shots. Compared to all other options available for my Pentax, this one came out on top. Full mobility, can be used remotely, and available for updates, these are some of the main features that caught my attention.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Pentax Camera:
I really love this flash. It's straightforward to operate, well constructed and works well with my P-TTL metering. I haven't yet had the opportunity to test it in a lot of different settings, but I played around with shooting a still life in different lighting situations and was very pleased with the results from this flash.

Got this flash about 3 weeks ago and i have been using it quite a bit, it is very simple to use and pretty much changed the way i take indoor nighttime photography.
I would love a back LCD but I believe the 50series do have them
