The Lensbaby Composer Pro With Double Glass Optic (For Nikon) is part of the Lensbaby series of SLR lenses, and offers the same spectacular special-effect results. The refined and enhanced Composer Pro has an all-metal ball that gives you a more exact, smooth focus and tilt control and will retain its position after being bent, which makes it easy to use even with one hand. Simply tilt the lens to a desired angle and then focus with a traditional barrel focusing ring.
The Double Glass Optic is a hybrid between a bellows camera and a tilt-shift camera. It allows for selective focusing with SLR cameras. It will bring one area of a photo into sharp focus, surrounded by gradually increasing blur. Effects like blurring, glowing highlights, and subtle, prismatic color distortions can all be achieved without software manipulations. The lens can be bent off-center in any direction for different results.
The Composer Pro is compatible with the Optic Swap System--a line of different "optics" that can be interchanged with the Muse and Composer versions. This provides artists with an almost unlimited variety of looks and styles to capture their unique visions.
The Composer Pro comes supplied with the Double Glass Optic, which provides the sharpest focus in its range. It offers a tack sharp sweet spot, with minimal diffusion at all aperture settings.

This is a toy at best and not for serious photography. This is gimmicky, has lens creep and inconsistent performance. Don't waste your time or money, just buy a Tilt-Shift lens.

I bought a Composer some time ago for my Canon 40D and now another one for a friend with Nikon because I love the CHANGE Composer made on my photos. Freedom to express myself in new and umpredictable ways.
I love my Composer.

I was a little skeptical since the price is so reasonable. Because, I truly would like a Nikon 35mm tilt shift, but totally out of my budget at the moment. Tried building my own tilt shift and failed miserably. Took it out to the beach today and was amazed. Results were similar to some Max Wanger shots. Pretty freakn' excited to edit them in photoshop and see what happens. Also, waiting to get the 35mm insert when it comes back in stock. But, the 50mm is pretty sufficient. Look for examples soon on my blog: [@]

I had debated about buying this lens, thinking it might be just a toy. Nothing could be further from the truth.
I bought it mainly to photograph my great-grandson and on a recent visit had the opportunity to try it out. I got some beautiful and unattainable pictures with any other lens. The blurring of the surrounding background makes the subject leap to the viewers eye.
On the plane ride home I was editing my pictures and the lady next to me saw one of the pictures and said-It looks like a painting!
I haven't figured it completely out yet as when I tilt after focusing I have trouble getting it refocused on the subject but that is my lack of expertise, not the lens. I will add another Lens Baby to gear in the future.
