The Sony HDR-CX160 HD Flash Memory PAL Camcorder puts full 1920 x 1080p high-definition recording and 16GB of internal memory in the palm of your hand. It may be a mid-range camcorder where budget is concerned, but the CX160 provides a hearty helping of functions and features--not to mention the stunning detail of progressive high definition--to ensure your memories look beautiful on your HDTV or HD monitor.
Helping the CX160 capture those gorgeous HD videos is the camera's Exmor R CMOS sensor--the heart of the camera. This back-illuminated sensor has superb low light capabilities for capturing readable images even in dimly lit places. In addition to the sensor, features like the Sony Wide Angle G lens, a 3.0" touch screen LCD, Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, and 42x Extended zoom play key roles in preserving the memorable moments of your life.
Along with these core tools, the CX160 comes equipped with a number of user-friendly shooting controls--controls that help take the guesswork out of filming and allow you to focus on the moment at hand. Such functions include Intelligent Auto, Golf Shot, and Tracking focus, to name a few. Of course when you're done shooting, the work still isn't over--which is why Sony provides editing software with the CX160 for making the most of your videos. And when your masterpiece has been polished, the software will help you upload it to the Web for sharing on sites like Facebook and YouTube.

This is exactly the camcorder I was looking for, simple, compact with excellent image quality. the image stabilizer is fantastic.
internal memory is an advantage.
Still image has only 3MP and cannot be used while recording in 50p mode, but I don't intend to use it anyway as still camera.
