Comments about Vello Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon 5D Mark II, 40D & 50D:
I just got and started using the screen protector. Mostly I bought it for insurance & piece of mind. It was easy to install and it is inexpensive for the piece of mind. Viewing the display is unaffected although the edges of the protector are a bit bulky and if it isn't perfectly positioned you can hit it when trying to find the info button, trash button, etc. Only occasionally a minor nuisance. Wouldn't take it off or trade it because of this though.

Comments about Vello Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon 5D Mark II, 40D & 50D:
Fits the 5D Mark II screen very well. Thankfully was able to apply it without dust getting underneath. Would be better if they also included a smaller one for the top LCD screen. Images show up fine on the LCD and I do not notice any degradation in LCD image quality. Only downside is the bottom black border completely covers the Canon logo, and now it shows the product logo instead.

Comments about Vello Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon 5D Mark II, 40D & 50D:
I am impressed with this screen protector. It installed easily and quickly and you hardly know it's there after it is installed. I had an Invisible Shield on a previous camera which did a good job but was a bit of a pain to install. I'll stick with this brand from now on. I also bought the version for the Canon 7D.

Comments about Vello Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon 5D Mark II, 40D & 50D:
After months of searching for a good screen protector, I took a punt and purchased Vello portectors for all of my cameras; 5D mkII specifically in this case.
Integrates perfectly with the camera. I actually had forgotten it was on the camera until recently.
Sturdy.
Great protection.
Very clear.
Bonds well.
(includes instructions for removal)
The protector covers the Canon logo on the back with Vello. But seriously, how much does that actually matter?

The glass LCD screen protector is an amazing product. Very easy to use and understand. It fit perfect and wasn't hard to line up, or put on! The glass finnish is perfect. I used to have a plastic one, it would get scratched easily and make it hard to view my images. This one is easy to clean and hasn't had one mark on it! Love it!

Comments about Vello Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon 5D Mark II, 40D & 50D:
This glass protector perfectly covers the stock LCD screen protector in the Canon 5D MkII. In fact, it almost seems like the same exact thing, with the addition of some double-sided tape along the edges.
Mounting the protector onto the camera is simpl:
-Clean the camera's viewscreen thoroughly. I used the same cleaner and cloth as I use for my eyeglasses. Make sure every last speck of dust is removed from the screen.
-Peel the protective paper off of the back of the screen protector.
-Line up the edges of the screen protector with the edges of the camera's screen (not the edge of the viewable area, but the edge of the plastic, a few mm out from the viewable area). Let the screen protector "settle" onto the camera, but don' press it down yet!
-Inspect the edges for good alignment. It doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to comply with your personal level of acceptability. If you need yo adjust it, carefully lift the edge of the frame up with a pen knife or similar, reposition it, and let it settle against the camera again.
-When you're satisfied with the positioning, press the edges down, all the way around the frame. It should be tight all the way around, with no gaps.
Once mounted, the protector looks almost stock. It adds virtually no bulk to the camera at all.
The build quality seems at least as good as the stock Canon protector (which can be replaced by the end user for just a little more than the cost of the Vello--you have to buy the part directly from Canon).
It's not going to stop a penetrating blow from a table corner (for example), but it will collect the scrapes and scratches of everyday use, and absorb the damage from a fall or compression in airline luggage or a backpack. I mean, it will break, but should protect the stock screen protector. Then, just carefully remove the peices, peel off the frame and repeat the mounting process for the next one.
It gives me a little peace of mind to know that I can grab the camera out of the bag, cram it back in, let it hang over my shoulder, let people touch and poke the screen (It's NOT an iPhone, people!) and not worry as much about zippers or keys or belt buckles or rings, and to know that if it does break in the field, I can peel it off and still have a perfectly good screen to work with until I can get home or to a camera store to get a replacement.
One Con, if you can call it that: When properly mounted, the screen protector will cover the Canon logo on the back with its own Vello logo. I would have given an extra star if it had NO logo, but that's just my issue.
