The Panasonic DVD-S68 DVD Player is a full-featured multi-format disc player with high performance audio and video processing. If you're looking to output high definition signals into your system using your collection of DVDs, this player can do the job. It upconverts to 1080p resolution progressively scanned for razor sharp imaging over HDMI. You'll experience a smoother, more realistic picture quality from interlaced sources. With support for HDMI 1.3 and Deep Color, it is compatible with an extended color space when used with a display and source materials that also support Deep Color.

This disc player can handle virtually any DVD and CD disc in your collection, as well as JPEG and MP3 files. Its front-panel USB port makes it convenient to pop in a USB memory drive for playback of music, photo and video files. You can even make MP3 recordings onto USB memory from your audio CDs. Additionally, you can show a JPEG slideshow with MP3 music playing to share your multimedia files with friends and family.

The DVD-S68 is also VIERA Link compatible, so if you have a Panasonic HDTV with VIERA Link you can control everything with a single remote for seamless integration. That also means no more pile of remotes to keep track of. This disc player features a slim design and measures in at just over an inch, so it will fit anywhere and blend with the rest of your setup.

1080p DVD Upconversion
With this disc player in your setup, you'll see your DVDs in a whole new light. It is capable of upscaling standard DVD's (720 x 480 pixels) up to 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) with HDMI output. You'll see your old favorites in near-HD quality without having to make a costly upgrade to your DVD collection thanks to the high bandwidth processor and HDMI output. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio through just one cable.
Deep Color Support
An HDMI 1.3 specification means the DVD-S68 is compatible with 30, 36, and 48-bit RGB, or Deep Color. This format expands the colors on the display from millions to billions. While such an expanded color space is beyond what our eyes can see, it eliminates on-screen color banding for tonal transitions that are smooth and subtle color graduations.
Multi-Format Disc Playback
With the DVD-S68, you don't have to worry about whether it will play your disc collection. It supports playback of: DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, CD-DA, (Video CD, Super Video CD), CD-R (CD-DA, JPEG, MP3), CD-RW (Video CD, Super Video CD).
Progressive Scan
This is a progressive scan DVD player, so it's capable of scanning an entire video frame at once. This reduces scan lines commonly associated with interlaced video to produce a clear image without motion artifacts or "stair-stepping." It also delivers highly detailed imaging for a smoother, more realistic picture quality.
USB Playback and Recording
The DVD-S68 is capable of recording audio files (CD-DA) from a CD onto a USB device as an MP3 format. With the front panel USB port you can easily plug in a USB device to record from a disc.
JPEG Slideshow with MP3 Music
Enjoy a slideshow of your personal photos in JPEG form along with MP3 music files so you can share them with friends and family. See them on your HDTV for high definition playback.
Front Panel USB Port
The front panel high-speed USB 2.0 port means you can plug in your USB flash memory device for playback of your personal videos, music and photos. Share them with friends and family without needing to reach to the back of the player. This player supports playback of MP3 and JPEG files from USB memory devices.
Dolby Digital Decoding
This DVD player has built-in decoding for Dolby Digital audio, with a 2-channel analog audio output.
VIERA Link Compatible
As the types of media continue to increase, VIERA Link capabilities continue to evolve. Using the VIERA Link remote from your Panasonic VIERA Link enabled HDTV, the enhanced Seamless GUI (graphical user interface) menu displays on the TV screen, making it easier to operate connected components like your new DVD-S68.
Fully Functional Remote Control
The system comes with a remote with full operations of the system including slow motion playback, subtitle selections, and frame by frame playback. You can also control USB recording with the remote and program a playback order from the comfort of your couch.
Slim Package
The DVD-S48 features a slim design with a sophisticated back finish that will blend seamlessly with your home entertainment space. Measuring just 1.5" high, it should fit just about anywhere.

Comments about Panasonic DVD-S68 DVD Player:

The functionality and performance deserves 5 stars. The lack of an optical or coax digital audio out deserves 0 stars. All digital audio is output through the HDMI port which means that if you want your audio going to a home theater, your receiver better have an HDMI in and then output to your TV. I have an older receiver with no HDMI in and couldn't hook this up to my home theater. Luckily, I bought this because I needed a new DVD player in another room and didn't need to hook it up to my home theater.
