Summary: [...]The laptop is very nice. Yes, the top is nice and glossy, shiny and a fingerprint magnet. But the keys, mouse pad etc are all nicely finished in a brushed aluminium/dark grey top and resists fingerprints etc. I like the feel of the keys since I tend to type fairly hard. It took a while to get everything set up though. To be expected when you have a brand new computer and need to update software/drivers etc. Good thing I had a full day to do so. I also transfered a lot of data from my old laptop too. I'm not a huge fan of the new Microsoft Windows 7/Office menus etc. Kind of hard to get used to, but that's not the fault of the laptop. Also, the 10-key is nice, but will take some getting used to. The ZERO key is only one space. Most of the time it's a full 2 keys size. Odd.The screen is a nice size and fairly bright. I actually turned it down a bit. The speakers sound o.k., but to be expected. Louder than other laptops I've tried. The mousepad is very nice. Had a nice Mac-like feature to scroll, move thru pages etc. I only wish it came configured that way from the factory. It wouldn't work without going thru the control panel and clicking on it. I used the Samsung customer service chat feature. Quick and accurate info. The graphics are super fast!!! The Hard Drive is also nice at 500GB. I've only loaded on my iTunes (which I'm still having issues with) and it's just a drop in the bucket. I did encounter a bit of stutter when playing a Netflix movie. I was on battery, so not sure how that affects it. I plugged in and tried again and no issues. Battery life seems nice and long. The weight is nice and well balanced. A couple of odd niggles. The slot for the SD memory/flash drive is in front. It's tough to find my feel and when I try to push it in, the laptop slides across my counter. Haven't tried some of the other features yet. But so far, everything is as advertised.I REALLY dig the 3 second boot up when you shut the lid. SO nice!Really like it and hope it lasts me a long time!Johnny

It is amazing that a company as forward thinking as Samsung could install such a flimsy DC jack in such a horrible location as they did, and couple it with absolutely horrible run time on battery.
I have the RF510, and I had to relocate the power - in jack to the back of the computer, and substitute a common, robust jack for the one that came with this rather expensive laptop. Now it is at least usable without starting a fire.
It is really too bad that Samsungs engineers were asleep at the wheel when they were designing the DC power in for this machine, because it is an otherwise very nice unit.
Mine is much better now with the plug relocated in the right rear and a power cord with a right angle plug that is not easily bumped.

My RF511-S02US (15.6") notebook has met all my expectations since its arrival (2 weeks old). While the plan is to utilize it for multimedia play (not stress-tested yet), it breezes thru less demanding applications. [...]

I purchased this computer about a month ago and so far it has lived up to my expectations. It is quick while browsing and while running multiple programs. I am not a gamer so I don't think I use it to its full potential but for my uses (web browsing, emails, music, creating documents) it performs very well. I would recommend this computer to anyone looking for a laptop in this size/ price range.

Good value, but it got overheat with high graphic setting. For the price point with all the features, it is good value. Too bad, the graphic card cannot handle the load. Cannot expect too much with a sub 1K laptop that has most of the bells and whistles.

Unfortunately, the poor-quality of the display ruins this otherwise great laptop.
The colors on the screen all appear very washed out unless the screen is angled away from the viewer, and even then only a band of the screen becomes halfway-decent.

This is a casual-use computer for family financial tracking, genealogy hobby work, etc. It is not appreciably fa ster than my old Lenovo, which I found disappointing. However, it is a good replacement for the old machine, which had run out of capacity.
Main disappointment is the placement of arrow keys, which are integrated into the 10-key pad rather than being dedicated as on other keyboards.

This laptop is amazing! I am a recent high school graduate and I bought this Samsung for college. Of course, being a guy, I enjoy gaming. This laptop is AMAZING. Don't listen to all those people who say that the Gt540m is garbage. It is great! I can play pretty much any game (Black Ops, Starcraft 2, Fable 3, Sims 3, League of Legends) on high settings with no problems at all. Sold 60FPS throughout the game.
The battery life is also great. I get about a good 3 hours if I'm surfing on the internet. I have yet to try the battery for gaming, but obviously it would drain very quickly.
If you are a student who wants a good, fun, all around laptop, get this. I've searched many laptops before coming to a conclusion, and I strongly believe that I made the perfect choice.

I bought this laptop as replacement for my GATEWAY. This is my first experience with a SAMSUNG laptop and its not a bad looking laptop. The I7 processor with the NVIDIA graphics makes this a perfect combo. Now the concerns( the BAD) Don't know why they added the EURO sign on the keyboard for the FN option also the mute was added but wait there is already a mute button as the soft key on the power button area. Also a MIC right where I would place my wrists not sure if this will muffle the sound when skypping is going on. The touch pad is very sensitive (THANK GOD for my LOGITECH wireless mouse) The lid of this is not smudge or finger print proof at all. I guess this is good to proof somebody touch it while you were away and your wanted to proof to them that they touched it.

I certainly recommend
I usually use my laptop for work, word processing and occasionally use for games.
Games like PES 2010, FIFA 2011, Crysis 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Street Fighter IV worked very well. The dedicated video card it is very good.
The only cons about this laptop are the weight and the fact that he not be so pretty. But it is a great notebook, I am very pleased.
