This monitor kit works great on my Panasonic HMC80 when used on its tripod. Helps with framing on my projects. The custom case is very convenient too.

Comments about Ikan VL7-S-DK VL7 Deluxe Kit (Sony):
I haven't had a chance to test the monitor on-location, but it's a neat little kit. Tad expensive. BIG COMPLAINT: the excellent sales guy in the pro video department who I always seek out to help me couldn't ascertain whether this item works on multiple currents and had to order it up from stock and open the box to find out. This crucial detail needs to be added to the specs. Finding out was a waste of time for us both. No I won't tell you whether it works on multiple currents. Waste the time to find out for yourself! The cable lengths seem a bit short. It also needs a shoe mount for certain Sony models ($20). The case is light and the interior well-organized. YES, I'D RECOMMEND TI TO A COLLEAGUE, but make certain first, whether it works on multiple currents...

Comments about Ikan VL7-S-DK VL7 Deluxe Kit (Sony):
I've used a netbook computer and large hdmi monitor in the past as an alternative to the tiny on-camera screen. While they were certainly better than the tiny screen for my tripod shooting, they pale in comparison to even the simpler monitors designed for the task, just as this is.
Pros:
The picture looks fantastic, it is bright and clear.
The peaking feature is infinitely useful to me.
The dedicated case is very nice.
Cons:
The means of mounting is somewhat shaky, and though I don't notice it a lot normally, I am unwilling to mount the battery to the monitor if I can find any alternative.
All told, I have no regrets in purchasing this product, but I imagine there is some room for improvements in build quality. That said, I have not owned or used any other field monitor before, so I have no true measure of quality or any like or dislike listed.

With the guidance from "Barry" the pro video rep at B+H, I purchased this monitor. I was very surprised at the quality of image, screen clearity and the overall kit and case. This was an EXCELLENT purchase. I am using this monitor for focus and composition and indication of lighting with my NEXFS100 - Sony camera. If you are looking for an affordable solution for an external monitor, this is a great choice.

Replaced a Marshall product which suddenly died on me after 2-3years. Use this unit on one of my Studio camera, Works well as expected. Liked the HDMI input to it. I did not see any info on how long the battery would last wish that was in the info somewhere. Found out it lasted for about 2-3hrs. My shoots normally last for 6-8hrs so I would have to get an extra battery.
