I'd bought a non-Panasonic version before because it was a bit cheaper but it didn't work (not fitting into the charger properly and taking a charge). B&H offered this genuine Panasonic battery as a replacement and it works like a charm.
I have used non-brand batteries before but from this experience, I'll buy Panasonic batteries for Lumix cameras from now on.
B&H's prices on these batteries seem to be the cheapest and not that much more than non-brand ones. I think they should promote this and take the non-brand off the shelf.
A note for Panasonic: it's very annoying that each Lumix camera model uses a different battery that requires a unique charger. That means owning multiple chargers and forever confusing which battery for which camera!

Using a GH2 to shoot events you need to have enough power to last potentially the entire event. These batteries come in at around 2 hours of continuous footage safely (3 hours in practice but you shouldn't push it).
They work and being from Panasonic themselves you don't need to worry about them frying your camera. The downside of is that you have to pay the rather steep price for these. It's a fair trade but the batteries are definitely overpriced.

It's important that you get the real Lumix battery made by Panasonic and not a black market battery (to save money). Work great as expected.

Since I'm out on shoots quite often, I knew I needed another battery to switch out. Fast to charge and easy to change. I would reccommend.

This is the battery you want to get for a reliable, consistent, worry-free GH2 experience. Third-party batteries do not show a battery indicator on the lcd, so using them is a crapshoot, especially when the job is on the line. The biggest downside is the price, B&H luckily has the lowest price available. It seems everywhere else (especially in Canada) has this battery 30-50% higher.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-BLC12 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery (7.2V, 1200mAh):
This battery is the genuine deal. It lasts as long as the battery that came with the Panasonic GH2 and unlike the knock-off batteries (which only last about have as long per charge)this battery talks to the camera so it can show the remaining charge time!
The knock-offs get hot, don't last that long, and can swell up (sometimes getting stuck in your camera), but these batteries from B&H work great!

This is a difficult battery to find but B & H had it in stock at a fair price. A not so local store was getting them in stock but charged $69 for a $45 dollar battery. The battery works great. Charges quickly and is the real McCoy and not a non-brand knockoff. I have heard and read too many stories about knockoff batteries not charging or powering up a camera for an acceptable amount of time. So I recommend buying name brand batteries. It is not a good place to go cheap.

After a short selection, I decided to buy only original batteries. Lumix GH2 is sold in Russia, but it is very difficult to buy original batteries. B & H has helped solve this problem.

Didn't like the price, but wanted to assure the camera worked right, so went with the OEM battery. Everything works as promised in my Panasonic GH2. Would recommend.

I Bought a GH2 specially for video... Im glad i have 2 of this batterys, specially because in video mode the camera runs out of energy pretty quick... In the mean time, I´ve just swap the 2nd battery while i put the one to charge... Not a single problem at all.

After Reading that the Panasonic Firmware upgrade for my GH2 will not allow the camera to work with after-market batteries, I decided the only option was to get the OEM version. Can't say much about the battery itself, it just works like the original. But, it's like potato chips, you can't just have one.
Some manufacturers make their profits on their proprietary consumables, like batteries and ink catridges, and it's why they are expensive.

We have 5 of these for our Gh2s. The alternative batteries are the worst. These have proven solid from the time we started using them. I wish they gave more time but they charge rather quickly and we run two Gh2s for shooting weddings and with 5 in our possession we are covered.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-BLC12 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery (7.2V, 1200mAh):
Ok the only reason I gave this 4 stars is because I have a GH1 and just purchesed a GH2, which is why I now have this battery and this battery comparied to the GH1 battery last a lot shorter. I would just recommend ordering one or two extra. Other than that it is a well made product, and I would definitely order this one over a non OEM battery.

I've tried 3rd party batteries, but the Panasonic batteries last much longer and are chipped so you get an accurate charge indication with your camera.

This one shows how much battery power you have left. Overpriced. Annoying that the batteries I have for the GH1 do not fit the GH2. Argh.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-BLC12 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery (7.2V, 1200mAh):
I spent too much time and money looking at third-party batteries, where compatibility is questionable, the battery life indicator doesn't work, and so forth. I finally concluded that life is too short and photo opportunities too precious to fool around. This battery works just like the one that came in the camera - obviously, since it is the original.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-BLC12 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery (7.2V, 1200mAh):
The major advantage to using the VERY spendy Panasonic brand is that getting two such spares is still cheaper than getting a whole AC adapter system and should ensure you never run out of juice on set (at least we have not on the four 10 hour shoots we've done so far.)
There are knockoffs which are cheaper, some even available through B & H, but the disadvantage is that many of these do not display battery life and some require a certain firmware hack to be used.
