This the DMW-AC8 AC Adapter for Select Panasonic Lumix Digital Cameras from Panasonic. It permits you to use your camera off standard AC power without using up your batteries. The system consists of two pieces and is included with the camera. To use it - plug the AC Adapter into your Lumix and the AC Cable into the Adapter that then plugs into a standard wall outlet.
An optional DC Adapter is available that enables you to replace the batteries with this module, plug it into the AC Adapter that then goes into the wall socket. This item may be required to use your camera under certain circumstances. However, it depends on which model Lumix you own since various Lumix cameras require a different DC Adapter. It is recommended that you call Panasonic to obtain the proper DC piece number.

Comments about DMW-AC8 AC Adapter for Select Panasonic Lumix Digital Cameras:
haven't had a chance to use the product yet, as it was not evident that it required a separately sold item, the coupler, which takes the place within the battery compartment. This is Panasonic's fault at the start, but B&H can help future customers by alerting buyers to the coupler accessory, either through a kit sale or some other note on the item description.

Comments about DMW-AC8 AC Adapter for Select Panasonic Lumix Digital Cameras:
I use this to power a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 with the separately purchased DC cable for GH2. I only purchased this because I am helping a friend photograph an entire minor hockey league; about 500 pictures. It works. The cable length is adequate. I feel it's too expensive for what it is. If you really need it, you have no other choice.
