iHome iDM12 Rechargeable Portable Bluetooth Speaker System (Black)
The black iHome iDM12 Rechargeable Portable Bluetooth Speaker System lets you wirelessly stream music from a Bluetooth-enabled iPad, iPod, iPhone, PDA, smartphone, computer, etc. The speaker system has a transmission range of up to 30' and allows you to listen to music from non-Bluetooth devices including alternate MP3 players, CD players and radios. The iDM12 features two active speaker drivers and one passive radiator, which deliver extra bass and exceptional clarity due to iHome's SRS TruBass digital sound processing technology. For protection during transport, the system includes a cover that attaches magnetically to the speakers. The cover was also designed to work as a stand for your first generation iPad, iPad 2 or iPhone. The iDM12 also has a dual-color LED charging/pairing indicator light and is powered by a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery that affords ultra-portability, allowing the speaker system to travel anywhere with your phone or iPad.

I bought this speaker primarily to take with me on the beach and at pools. I love the small compact nature of the bluetooth speaker and was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality. I have a few other bluetooth speakers (each with different uses) and this is in the middle of the sizes I have and is a much lower price point.
I love the built in cover that it also doubles as an iPad stand. The sound and bass is surprising in something that is as reasonably priced as this. The unit does feel a little cheap and "plastic-ey" but once you get over that and the simplicity of the operation you will be fairly impressed. The unit has a nice LED feature - green LED (flashes slowly to let you know it is on; flashes fast to let you know it needs charging) and an amber LED (flashes slowly to pair bluetooth). All of my phones, iPod and iPad easily "discovered" this and quickly which was nice.
Do not expect an amplified, powered sub type of sound but something that is signifantly better than your iPad and comparable to a flat panel TV speakers.
Overall, I use this at work and will be taking with me on vacation. It is a very nice speaker to sum it all up and has a lot of impressive capabilities and options for this size.

I have done extensive research for a small set of speakers to use in the bathroom while getting ready for work and settling in for the night. I needed something that didn't require a power cord and permit me to leave my ipad outside of the damp conditions of a hot shower. I am very particular when it comes to purchasing products, and knew I wanted something bluetooth enabled, built in rechargable battery, and a solid sound.
The iDM12's hit that mark. I am amazed at the quality of sound coming from something that are as partable as these, and though I wouldn't use this to pump up a party, they are more than sufficiant enough for personal enjoyment (or a small gathering).
The protective cover is a nice touch and the magnet helps hold it in snuggly. It even can be converted to be a stand for my ipad, which is quite stable for it's size.
The bluetooth paired with my ipad with no problems, and after initial set up instantly connects everytime I turn the speakers on.
I can control the volume and play/pause my music/videos on my ipad no matter what app I am playing it on. The only minor con for this device is you can't skip tracks, which doesn't bother me since I usually listen to internet radio and all of the songs in my playlist are an enjoyment to listen to.
I guess the final point I would like to mention is the battery life. I haven't tested them out by playing music continuously till dead, but I usually have them in use for a couple hours a day. I got a good week of use with these with out needing to charge them, so I am more than pleased with that.

Worked well pairing with my blackberry. has good sound, but does not produce a tremendous amount of sound (does not get real loud). Did not want to pair with my iPod Touch.

In a wide range of areas these have been fantastic. Outside at a small BBQ or in my home basement. Difficult to know when it is fully charged unless it is powered on. It hasn't died yet, but if it does, it would need to be partially charged and then turned on to prevent overcharging. Pairing was easy with four different devices. Overall great speakers, extremely portable with no fuss.

The sound quality is great for a speaker so small. Its size and battery time are also pretty good.
The only reason I've given it 4 starts and not 5 is that it would work perfectly for apple devices.
The device comes with volume buttons, a skip button and a play/pause button.
I'm sure it works for apple devies but for my Nexus One (Android) only the play/pause works. It's good enough for me though because it would probably make more sense to control music from the phone and not the speakers but if you really need all of the buttons to function on something other than an apple device, then bare this in mind.

This product is simply the best in its class... Nice bass, with superb clarity.... The problem is when playing extreme lows... It tends to rattle thats causes noise... Specially hiphop, rnb songs.
