Comments about Celestron Deluxe Handheld Digital Microscope:
I use these at the university level in a science teaching methods course offered to elementary education majors. The students can use the handheld scopes to magnify material and see it displayed on their laptop or desktop computer.
Comments about Celestron Deluxe Handheld Digital Microscope:
I had no problem loading the software and getting a useable image with an older PC. Not so with a Mac.
With no sucess on my home Mac Pro, I proceeded to try connecting this scope to two different Macbook pros and a Mac book and another Mac Pro at work. Non of them could view or capture an image. The manufacturer's support people admitted that the microscope as hardware is recognized by the Mac but they have no workaround for getting the software to capture the images on Mac Leopard or Lion Operating Systems."
In other words, It doesn't work on the Mac Operating system that has been shipping with the computer for the past four or five years.

Comments about Celestron Deluxe Handheld Digital Microscope:
This inexpensive digital microscope works great. It is easy to set-up and use. The images that you get are amazing. I was playing with it and used it to look at the edge of my knife. I couldn't believe how bad the edge of the blade looked when under magnification. I am very happy with this device.

Comments about Celestron Deluxe Handheld Digital Microscope:
I am a master gardener and as such I am always experimenting with my plants. The microscope lets me take pictures in various stages and compare those to other experiments in the same stages. I use the microscope to monitor for insects, mold, and other issues which can plague my greenhouse operation. The things I like most are the simplicity of use, the quality of the pictures I get(2MP is plenty), the price is great, and the unit seems to be of good quality. The things I don't like so much: The focus knob is too difficult to turn with the slick surface. The surface should be knurled so your fingers don't slip and focus is easier to obtain. Lastly the software is very minimal. Don't expect to be able to tag your pictures of do much else other than just capture a bunch of images. Be sure and take notes as you take the pictures so you can run them through other software and manipulate or even name them. Other than that it is a good solid product for the price.
