The Pro Tools + Mbox Pro from Avid is a high-performance, 8 x 8 Pro Tools studio bundle for Mac and Windows. The company's third generation FireWire digital audio interface allows for recording, editing and mixing performances with the highest audio resolutions. With a comprehensive set of connectors it is an easy matter to connect microphones, instruments, outboard effects, monitors, and other analog, digital, and/or MIDI gear with a computer to capture and create studio-quality productions.
Pro Tools 9 software now includes many features that were previously the purview of the more expensive Pro Tools HD systems. Notable among these are ADC (Automatic Delay Compensation), multi-track Beat Detective, a Timecode ruler, OMF/AAF/MXF interchange support, and DigiBase Pro file management, and more. With the addition of more tracks, busses and auxiliary tracks, MIDI tracks and full EUCON integration, Pro Tools 9 redefines the world's most popular and advanced music and audio production platform.

I'm new to Pro Tools and found this bundle an awesome way to get started at a super price. No other store could match BP's deal. I plan to use the interface with Logic Pro as well. Bundle included free upgrade to PT 10 and iLok. Bought 2 packages!!!

This was the best deal in town! Instead of paying 500 bucks just to upgrade to PT10, I bought this bundle for[$], and got PT10 upgrade for free! So, basically I saved over 800 dollars through B&H. Thanks guys! Also, this is a great piece of hardware. Sounds awesome, versatile, fast, and efficient. I was able to get rid of my mixer, headphone amp, and lots of messy cables after I hooked this up. A +++Oh, and it comes with all the cables you'll need, even a firewire adapter!

Read this if you'd like 2 cents from someone who records for a (modest) living and knows how to get things sounding good on a budget. This bundle is pretty all-inclusive, and costs about $300 less here than directly from [@], which is interesting but at any rate; I needed something for my home use and the versatility of this box made it perfect, especially at this price. 4 clean mic pre's with midi i/o, inserts, firewire i/o, etc - great box, and again this is a steal at [$] (with PT).My single qualm is that at this box's size, it should just be 1U rack mountable unit. It's not much smaller than that and would be that much more portable. I understand there are those of you who are going to disagree with that but I tend to have OCD with my equipment, and like everything symmetrical and mounted.Without getting too technical, this box is perfect for home recording and in my opinion, high-quality off-site recording. If you're smart and know how to capture sound, there's nothing un-professional about the quality of the capture these pre's provide. For you audiophiles, of course this isn't the unit for you - it's just an incredible, versatile value in a durable box that'll allow you to do some outside of the studio if you need something portable, small, with above average a/d conversion for the price. Or, if this is your home-studio interface and you're a hobbyist or a beginner, rest assure you're using something worth using and worth learning on. great piece of gear with a great piece of software at a great price from B&H.

I researched and pondered for months before deciding on an upgrade for my 5-year old Mbox 2. Ultimately, Avid's listening challenge made up my mind for me. Every signal I put through my Mbox Pro has pristine depth, width and clarity. I'm in the middle of recording my second album and the quality has improved so much that I have to redo my other songs - the new Mbox Pro recordings sound too good to put next to Mbox 2 ones. It has also made mixing so much easier because frequencies are coming at you with such comfortable space and accuracy. It has also greatly reduced the need for excessive plug-in usage - the raw recordings are already so bright and clear. It's built like a tank, has all the features my project studio will ever need, including great new ones like the "soft clip" and "multi-button" which I use ALL the time now. Pro Tools 10 as well is a huge improvement and of course works perfectly with the hardware. Another great thing is it has actually allowed me to finally benefit from the full quality of my Rode NT2A mic. The combo upgrade has probably shaved anywhere from 3-5 hrs off my song-making time. It has made music-making easier, more fun, more efficient, and better sounding, all for a price that is less than half of its in-class competitors. I highly recommend it. I kissed it today - it's that good.

MBox Pro received good reviews, but I was still surprised at how much better it sounded than my old Mbox system. Built much studier, too.

I upgraded from PT8 w/mbox 2 pro to PT10 w/mbox 3 pro and for me, it was a HUGE improvement in sonics and workflow.
I am two-time Grammy winning engineer, and use PT to mix in my own studio on a daily basis. PT10's 32bit floating point allows me to compete with HD sonics in the comfort of my home studio without sacrificing the client's budget.
Being the first on the scene only gets you so far, but after twenty + years and tons of competition...Pro Tools is still industry standard says it all.
