The XDCA-55 HD Camera Adapter is a key component of Sony's Camera Extension System. Connecting to the camcorder via an optional 50-pin connector, the XDCA-55 works with an XDCU-50 Camera Extension Unit (also not included) to support bi-directional transmission of uncompressed HD digital signals up to 328 ft (100m). When combined with one of Sony's compatible camera remote controllers (optional), the system can remotely control a wide range of camera functions. This lets you use the camcorder on its own or in a multi-camera setup, offering both affordability and maximum versatility.
Note: The XDCA-55 connects to the XDCU-50 via two BNC cables (not supplied). A CCZ-A cable (up to 328 ft) is also required from the XDCU-50 to supply power to the XDCA-55.
High-quality camera pictures are transmitted without degradation via digital signals.
The maximum cable length is 328 feet (100m) between the camera adapter and the XDCU-50.
Cabling is simplified as the signals for camera control, intercom, tally, and timecode are embedded in the digital signal; only a pair of BNC cables and a single CCZ-A Cable for the power supply are required between the camera adapter and the XDCU-50.
The system is suitable for both HD and SD operation. Since the XDCU-50 has a downconverter function, when the camcorder is in HD mode, SD signals in Squeeze, Letterbox, or Edge Crop mode are available at the XDCU-50 along with HD-SDI from the XDCA-55.
