The ASUS 16GB Eee Pad Transformer Tablet features a 10.1" LED backlight, capacitive display with 10 finger multi-touch support, WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution and viewing angles up to 178°. There's 16GB of storage capacity and a 1GB DDR2 memory. It features an Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system as well, which is even upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The tablet is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor that affords ultra-fast web browsing, quicker response time and more efficient multi-tasking performance. The Transformer also has an optional keyboard docking station that can be attached, providing access to a full QWERTY keyboard - transforming it from tablet to notebook.
ASUS equipped the Transformer with WLAN 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity and Bluetooth V2.1 + EDR. It features a mini HDMI port for viewing stored and Internet content on an HDTV in full 1080p HD with a 5.1 ch surround sound system. There are also front and rear facing cameras that can shoot and record HD video, which makes the mini HDMI output especially useful for viewing your recorded HD video on an HDTV. Plus, the Transformer has expandable storage via the micro SD card reader and 1-year free trial of unlimited ASUS WebStorage.
When you're on-the-go, you'll appreciate the SRS Sound technology, 2-in-1 audio jack and durable IPS scratch resistant panel. The built-in SRS Sound technology provides a dynamic 3D stereo audio experience, with maximum bass response and a wide sound field from the stereo speakers integrated into the tablet. The 2-in-1 audio jack utilizes a single jack as a headphone output and microphone input. There is also a digital array mic integrated into the tablet. The IPS panel protects the brilliant 10.1" display with a durable and scratch-resistant glass enclosure, which can endure the rigors of daily commuting and ultra-mobility.
The portability of the Transformer is enhanced by its 0.5" thickness and 1.5 lb weight. It also features a unique textured back pattern that increases grip and provides comfortable holding from any position. As you turn the Transformer in your hand, the G-sensor automatically changes the screen from portrait to landscape mode. The Transformer also includes a gyroscope, light sensor, E-compass and GPS sensor. The Li-polymer battery lasts nearly ten hours and the ASUS Waveshare User Interface facilitates quick access to the tablet's software suite for easier on-the-move computing. Plus, if you choose to purchase the optional ASUS Transformer Keyboard Docking Station, the battery life will be extended to 16 hours and you'll have the ability to swiftly transform your tablet into a full-on notebook with full QWERTY keyboard and touchpad.

I consider myself a mobile warrior, and use my laptop extensively – for work, communication, social media, news, technology, movies, videos (sports/instructional/music), learning, information and entertainment. My experience with the touch-screen devices goes back to 1997 when I bought my first Palm Handheld, followed by an IBM Thinkpad X11 convertible tablet and then Windows Mobile 6.x phone. I have been looking for a device to increase the portability of my 4.5 lb. laptops, and tablet devices sounded promising as secondary devices. I waited in the wings to see how the companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft addressed this space, and after a year or so of waiting, decided to take the plunge and bought an iPad-2 16GB Wi-Fi only and the Asus Transformer 16GB Wi-Fi only, within weeks of each other. I have used neither Apple's iOS nor Google's Android based products before. My first impressions:Cost: ASUS Transformer is a clear winner over the iPad-2. Asus's recommended price at [$]/- versus iPad-2 recommended price at $499/-.Hardware Specifications: Asus is a clear winner over iPad-2. The Asus Transformer has all the specs of the iPad-2 and more (specifically GPS chip, MicroSD Card and miniHDMI port).I have also bought the docking station, and I await its delivery. I am looking forward to the ability to increase the battery life to 15 hours, and having a full-keyboard on the dockEven after combining the cost of the Transformer Tablet AND the Dock, the cost is comparable to the iPad-2 without accessories.Software Specifications: Asus wins. Adobe Flash support is IMPORTANT for the normal use (don't let anyone tell you differently). While I have heard arguments that you can get by without Flash support today, I personally don't like blank areas in my web-pages due to lack of Flash support. I watch sport instructional videos, and most of these sites use Flash, and the iPad-2 cannot play these videos. HTML5 that the iPad-2 supports is still nascent in adoption, and it will be much longer than a year before it becomes as prevalent as Flash is today. The Asus Transformer has all the software the iPad-2 has. Application Market: The markets for Asus and iPad-2 compare well, and I have found that all the applications I need are available on Google's Market or Amazon's Market. Additionally, I found some very popular games charged up to $5/- on the iPad-2, but free on the Android Markets. I use Skype, and that is not available on the iPad-2 (Apple has FaceTime to talk to other Apple users).User Interface: Both Asus and iPad-2 compare well. Within minutes of getting both machines, I was able to figure out both User Interfaces, so neither tablet has a steep learning curve. The Android development community can access the software development kit (SDK) and build applications on any Windows or Mac. machine. I dislike the fact that I have to buy Apple hardware to develop software for the iPads (I am thinking of learning how to develop software for mobile/tablet devices).I have had no problems with Honeycomb (3.0) version of Android (I have seen some online opinions that Honeycomb has issues)The GPS chip makes the Asus Transformer a Navigation device as well, and already there is FREE software that will allow me to download maps for OFFLINE use. I have not yet found a full-fledged Navigation (turn-by-turn with voice prompts) software, but I am sure it will be available very soon. Both the Asus Transformer and iPad-2 are great devices. My kids appreciate the iPad-2 mainly due to Apple's brand perception. However for me, the Asus Transformer is the clear winner due to its lower price, hardware specs, as well as future use-cases that the hardware will allow.

The device (maybe, as all other modern tablets) have a distinct feeling of not an accessory, but rather a tool to sell you more entertainment products, such as movies, music, books etc.
Unlike on larger computers, the user is hardly in control of what is possible to (un)install, and what particular application to use - be it e-mail texting or something else. There is a good reason why "rooting" the device, i.e., removing all factory settings and installing a "better" version of OS, is so popular, even though the procedure is complicated.
The tablet OS, Android, is frequently not supported when trying to access websites with remote mail or some educational functionality. Google applications and sale pitches soaked the device throughout, creating a feeling someone wants to assimilate you.
Useful mostly as a toy, not as an educational / work tool I hoped it to be.

Comments about ASUS 16GB Eee Pad Transformer Tablet:
The tablet has a good design. It is not so heavy and it´s easy to use. The sound power output isn´t enough. My TF101 power button is not working and a lot of other users have this same problem. I also have some crashes, random reboots, and battery issues. I feel as I have done a bad deal.

Comments about ASUS 16GB Eee Pad Transformer Tablet:
I've researched plenty of tablets. I wanted to go the cheap route initially, as my purpose is for entertainment, reading, browsing and portability when I travel (which is not much). I checked out the demo models of the cheap ones in the stores and watched youtube reviews online, but didn't think spending around $100 still made it worth it.
After using the Asus Transformer for a month now, I'm thoroughly satisfied with this Purchase. The quality, clarity of the screen, it feels good in the hands. Functionality and features of the hardware is right on par with my wishes; micro-HDMI out, MicroSD card, front and rear camera, etc.
Apps I've tested:
- I've tested Citrix app, works great.
- Flash works great (iPad2 as some browser that is supposed to support Flash, I tried this, its terrible).
- Skype works with the Video Camera
Dislikes:
- OS a little glichy (I did get the Android 4.0 on the second time i turned the tablet on, Ice Cream Sandwich is nice). Had about 5 times where it froze up (maybe I should be turning it off when I'm not using it, I just leave it on standby mode).
- Volume rocker feels a little loose

I am retired and have lots of time to kill so I bought this to tryout andriod and for its small size.
The screen is sharp and easier to read than most I have seen, and I've seen a bunch.
I love it and B&H was the cheapest spot I found for it and they came highly recomended by a friend.

A nice tablet. I don't use this for too much. Right now it has a bunch of Project Gutenberg books on it. What I would really like to have is a way to sort the "apps" by their license (as I prefer Free or Open Source software) - so that relates to Google/Android App store.

The Hardware is of good to excellent quality. 1st Android Sys. & still learning Android. For those are already familiar w/Android, this is an excellent choice especially w/the "Eee Pad Transformer Docking Station" which transform this Table to a NetBook. All others (like my wife & me) need to 1st learn Android before we can give a better experience / liking rating.

I hope to win this item back, as I purchased it to donate to Teddy Bear Bunco as a drawing ticket item for their fundraiser. Each year I donate and each year I plug along on this ten year old "Dell"
Let me win the $1000.00 so I can update my life.
If not, I hope the person who does win gets to enjoy it, and I lives up to the recommendations that enticed me to buy this and not the I-Pad. I was told that this was just as good if not better and I would be happy.
Good luck Teddy Bear Bunco in your fundraiser, and many more!!!!

Very impressed by this. My very first tablet. Upgrade to ICS was waiting to be downloaded once I turned it on. Upgrade was quick, painless and seamless too. The UI is very intuitive, especially if you already own an Android smartphone like I do. I bought this over the Transformer Prime as I was concerned about the wifi. Everything works great and setting up wifi, bluetooth, memory card etc was a piece of cake. Display looks awesome to me too. Price is very affordable and you are getting a top notch product.

I bought this Tablet to replace another one that I had bought on an auction site. I'm so happy that I bought this one from B&H. It was cheaper through B&H than anywhere else I looked and they sent it to me FAST.
The Tablet itself, is awesome. It's fast, lightweight, and the processor is great. It's also got very vivid color and I love how I can fully customize just about everything on it.
