Comments about Nikon Callaway LR550Y Laser Rangefinder:
I researched rangefinders online and with friends who owned these devices.
This rangefinder is manufactured by Nikon and is top quality.
It is very easy to use and I am very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Nikon Callaway LR550Y Laser Rangefinder:
Pros:
Very pleased with this product. It is certainly one item that 'does what it says on the tin'.
Very easy to use. The Diopter can be used on the naked eye or rolled back for glasses/sunglass wearers.
Very lightweight ergonomic design. Feels natural in the hand. No gropping around for buttons to press.
Everything you need is in the box. The neoprene cover is very well designed and an excellent fit - not some token after thought. It protects the lenses with a removable attachment.
Karabine style clip included allows you to attach to you bag or person.
Nikon's First Target Priority Mode for target acquisition definitely works making it easy to pick out the narrowest of targets. It's very easy to distinguish readings from returns in the foreground or background if you have a ball-park figure in mind.
What this device gives you is the confidence you are selecting the right club for everyshot allowing to purely concentrate on the strike without the gremlins seeding doubt in your mind. You still have to hit the ball though!
I would highly recommend this device to anyone keen to improve their golf.
It is a legal model, unlike others which boost temperature and altitude corrections but are only suitable for practice - as they will get you disqualified from competition.
Cons:
None really. You'll get used to the garish yellow cover quickly. Makes it easier to spot its missing if you did drop it!
Final caveat to go with ALL brands of rangefinders - you need a steady hand and a little patience and common sense to get the best out of them!

Comments about Nikon Callaway LR550Y Laser Rangefinder:
I'm a new golfer, and I find it challenging to the the yardage down. I can use the markers, but that still is plus/minus 10 yards in my opinion. I got this for [$] (no tax, free shipping). What a steal!!!

Comments about Nikon Callaway LR550Y Laser Rangefinder:
To find the range to your target, just point and click - no exotic buttons to push or adjustments to be made - just simple to use. It is accurate as I have checked it against other range finder. A great buy for the price.

Comments about Nikon Callaway LR550Y Laser Rangefinder:
Make sure you read the instructions. The LR550 will find the distance to the golf pin, if you use it correctly. It reports the closest object you scanned, and I believe it is spot on. I had to walk sideways a few times to be able to see around trees, so line of sight is critical. I also use this in practice to see how far I hit my clubs. One other thing I learned was how far off the course yardage markers can be.
