For the true music lover, there's the Yamaha CDC-697 5-Disc Carousel-Type CD Changer. This disc player lets you enjoy your collection of CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs. High performance parts and circuitry ensure high fidelity audio reproduction for even the most discerning ears. Yamaha has employed a special low impedance power supply with thick wires to ensure that power is absolutely stable even under low impedance conditions. This disc player also has a disc stabilizer, laser pickup floating mechanism and intelligent digital servo system.
You'll also enjoy the fact that Yamaha has packed in a host of convenient features. A 40-track random access programmable play and clear allows for one-touch programming of tracks you want to hear. With PlayXchange you can load a disc without interrupting the CD that you're listening to. Additional convenient features include an optical digital audio out and analog line out, as well as a music/skip/index search. You can even listen to the first 8 seconds of each disc so you can decide what to listen to first.
The CDC-697 also features custom installation features like an RS-232C interface, Remote In/Out terminals and a detachable power cord for advanced connectivity and control within a custom application. This disc player offers a seamless combination of high quality audio reproduction, and simplified operation in a sleek package.

I bought this to replace a Denon 5-cd carousel player that was eating cd's (I took it apart, and a wiring harness would occasionally grab the cd as the carousel turned. This Yamaha is excellent, and has much cleaner sound than the Denon. The mechanism also feels more solid, and it's nice that you can do everything you need to do without the remote (well, i don't use the randomize feature, so i'm not sure you can do that without the remote). A great buy!

I use this to listen to 5 CDs at a time. The music lasts 4-6 hrs without any messing with the player.
Do not like that you have to use the remote to do random play. My last CD player had a single button on the player itself. Quicker and easy to use.
It is hard to remove back to discs because the drawer does not come far enough out.
but the player does work for the purpose I purchased it for.

I replaced another one just like it but 11 years old, this is updated with led's but much like the old one....production date was on the back April 2000.
