The Black Widow Holster from Spider Camera Holster is intended for use with small to mid-size DSLR cameras with detachable lenses. If your gear weighs 2 lb (1kg) or under, the Black Widow can be used with confidence. It works, basically, like a policeman's holster. Your camera rides on your hip. When you're ready to shoot, release the quick-release, take the camera and shoot. When finished, slip it back into the belt and you're off.
This unique system permits you to have your camera on your hip, ready to shoot. It's held in place by your tripod's quick-release plate safely and securely. The beauty of the Black Widow is that it permits your camera to move in sync with your body thereby allowing you to walk, climb or even eat. When you're hands-free, it leaves you free to use another camera, thumb through a record bin, climb an incline or use a computer.
Attach the Black Widow to the optional Black Widow Belt or even use it on your own belt. In either instance, the camera is held firmly in place. Having the camera at hip level, safely tethered, provides a measure of security that a traditional camera strap doesn't provide. Small and lightweight, the Black Widow is small enough to toss into your gear bag or luggage.

Comments about Spider Camera Holster Black Widow Holster:
Since I've gotten it, I use it whenever I'm taking pictures.
I've gotten a lot of comments from people who see me wearing it, worried that it might fall, but when the camera is locked in, it's super secure with the lever locked. I couldn't pull it out if I tried.
My only concern is trying to run with the camera. The holster allows the camera to pivot, which is good for walking, but causes the camera to shake when you run, especially with a heavier lens.

I love this. This is my second. I enjoyed the first one so much, I had to have a second for my other DSLR. Now I look much like a two gun cowboy. Amazing piece of equipment. Much better than ANY strap.

Comments about Spider Camera Holster Black Widow Holster:
The combination of the Black Widow holster and the Black Widow belt has made walking with my camera a pleasure rather than a drag. The easy release system is secure and quick to use. No complaints. B & H international delivery is first class and makes available products that I either cannot get in Australia or cost a lot more.

I have my primary camera strapped around my neck with my backup camera always ready in the holster. With just a couple of quick movements, the second camera is out and in position for the shot. The holster's ease of use, sturdy build, and "low profile" are very impressive. It's worth every penny!

Comments about Spider Camera Holster Black Widow Holster:
I found the Black Widow Holster useful for Pro-Videography when filming run-n-gun style with my 5D, and I need to keep my Zoom H4n audio recorder out of the way.
The screw size on the H4n fits perfectly to the pin. The recorder can hang hands-free on the belt, but if you need to change recording settings, just quick-release off the holster, hold in hands, and then snap back on, and continue with the shoot.
Because this wasn't originally intended for this use, I still have the issue of dealing with messy audio cables running from recorder to lapel or to camera.

I purchased this for my Sony Nex-5 and it works even better than I expected it to. It allows me to take my street camera everywhere without having to deal with stupid straps or lug around my larger cameras like my d700 d90 or d200. If you are looking for something that gives your hands the freedom you need and is totally unobtrusive, this is your product. Its so good I'm thinking of buying its bigger brother for my professional cameras.

Does what it says it will do: gets the weight off your shoulders.
Using it for sports where I'm carrying a second body I need instant access to if the action comes too close for my 400 on a monopod and for events where I'm carrying two bodies.
Still figuring out how to get the camera free with one hand. The 'always unlocked' setting feels far less secure. I'll try it and report back.

I'm traveling a lot and like to have my camera ready at all times without it getting in my way. I've used the original camerastrap, I've used the sunsniper strap and I've used the black widow. I like the black widow the best.
I've been biking with it, I've been walking around cities with it and it's just great. Especially when it's hot or if you have a backpack on it's really a relief.
Pro:
- Camera ready very fast
- Super light and compact (compared to sunsniper strap it takes up no space in camerabag)
- You don't bang your camera against things when you lean forward to reach for something
- less shoulder pain
- In very hot weather you're glad not to have something wrapped around your torso.
Con:
- When sitting down with a long lens you have to pay attention not to bang the glass against something
- With EOS7D and long lens it pulls down your pants quite a bit. So you have to really tighten your belt.
- You always need to wear pants that have a belt.
- You need 2 hands to grab camera. Snapshots while on your bike are not possible (are possible with sniperstrap)

If this is there base line version the commercial version is out of this worlld. Quick to install, easy to use. Love having my hands free to work with a second camera. Purchased 2. Only thing I would change is having it release from both sides. Just an amazing product.

I loved that I could carry my digital nikon slr camera on it, and that I could very easily take off the camera and hook it back in.
I don't like to hang my camera on my neck for long hours. When I went on a long vacation this summer, this holster was extremely useful and comfortable.
What would be better, is if I could adjust the angle of my camera on the holster. And if it would cost about 30% less than it does now.
