I truly like the sound improvement over just my lil flat screen, but am having prblms w/ display on unit. Was wacky for first week (100% of screen lit up, then was okay for a couple weeks)...and now after 30 minutes or so, it goes blank!!! Will be calling in the a.m.!!!

Simple solution to the sucky sound of flat-panels. Hook up to TV Audio Out, plug in the power cord and you're done! Even without a subwoofer, the sound is SO much better.
Believe the manual when they recommend an outside FM antenna though - the FM reception is pretty bad with the supplied fine-wire antenna, but who cares? Guys just wanna watch TV!

Comments about JVC TH-BC1 Surround Soundbar Home Theater System:
I bought this soundbar, like many of us, because I didn't want to run home theater wires and speakers all over the room, but still want something better than TV's own speakers. TV is Panasonic 52" plasma. And I had an Aiwa 140W sub sitting in the closet collecting dust. After connecting all the cables and hanging the soundbar on the wall right beneath the TV (quick and easy), I turned it on and found the sound pretty good considering the size of speakers and especially the price. But without the subwoofer it sounds pretty flat. Also is seems like lacking some midrange. But I filled this gap by turning on ( a little) the TV's speakers which have nothing but midrange. For comparison I connected my Behringer active monitors, put in my daughter's Harry Potter blu ray disc and regretted I did that. They left the soundbar deep in the dust, but this was kind of expected. I also like the remote and FM radio. The included antenna is OK, but if you are listening a lot of FM, you may want to buy a better one. The surround effect is really working, especially if there are walls by the sides. Of course it is not that surround you get from the real system. Overall, for [$], I'm very satisfied. I'm a musician, however, I'm not an overtone-picking audiophile, so it is good enough for me for TV. Of course, there are much better units, but you have to pay more.

Just installed the soundbar a few days ago and am loving it. Great quality sound, 1 wire hookup, compatible with cable remote. Everything you could want for under $150.00

Comments about JVC TH-BC1 Surround Soundbar Home Theater System:
After much research of the many overpriced and/or too cheap models of sound bars the JVC rose to the top in this price range. Though their 90 day warranty didn't instill much confidence in the quality or longevity of their product. Being new, it had very few reviews, but most were positive for sound and some semi-negative for the lack of HDMI inputs/outputs.
We have a small living room and the 5.1 surround system I owned seemed a little overkill for such a small space with the speakers, wires, receiver, etc cluttering up the space.
The hookup is easy via either coaxial, RCA or optical and has a pre-out for a subwoofer which was a plus for me as the wireless subwoofers of some brands seemed problematic. The FM is a nice addition and the remote is of decent size and intuitative to use. Uses a coin style battery. The minimal 1 sheet manual is adequate. The included infrared remote by pass will desireable for some consumers. No cables are included.
The sound is very good and reasonable bass even without the subwoofer but will have some distortion at mid/higher volume levels. The surround feature does add a pleasant, room filling sound. For some reason the unit quit during a movie and had to unplug it and start it up again. Have had no problems since. We use it almost entirely for movies and sees little use otherwise.
The build quality is just decent with lots of plastic and the keyhole screw type hangers on the plastic rear didn't look promising but so far have held the unit in place. The unit looks very nice in my opinion but doesn't have the modern sleekness that some consumers may prefer. The digital readout is farly easy to see and will give you the appropiate information with familiarity. It is a 6 speaker system with 4, 3 1/2"woofers and 2, 1" tweeters, 60 watts. I have added a small powered subwoofer for a little more room filling bass.
Overall pleased with this product at this price point and hope it will last much longer than the 90 day warranty suggests.

The price is really reasonable. The casing is a cheaper plastic, but the quality overall is well worth it. You will need to purchase the connector cable to get sound. I would also get a better antenna as the one provided isn't so hot...and it will take a while to position it for FM reception.

I bought this soundbar to use with my portable dvd projector and for karoake and it works perfectly. My epson moviemate projector only offers a digital audio coaxial output and this soundbar has that input and adds great sound to the projector. The am/fm feature is a great add on and works well.
