This is a pretty good soundbar. The surround is convincing enough to have me looking to either side of the TV. Obviously, there is no real surround coming from behind me, but it does a good job widening the soundstage up front. The HMDI connects are very convenient. The iPod docking is a great bonus as well. Sound fills my entire living/dining room nicely. My only issue is with connecting an external sub. I know that would take the sound over the top, but for some reason, I haven't been able to get a signal to the sub from the sub pre-out. Clearly this is a problem with JVC. I am efforting to find the solution, therefore only 4 stars, really 31/2.

This soundbar has decient sound and is a good value for all the features it has.. The problem i had with this unit was that the sub out didnt work with my atlantic technologies subwoofer. Most of the time it didnt send a signal to the sub & when it did there was very little sound. When i used this sub with a 5.1 surround system it rocked.. There for I am returning this product and looking for something that comes with a sub..

Really like the THBC3 soundbar. The sound is very rich and accurate and has lots of power. For the price this is the best soundbar out there.

Comments about JVC TH-BC3 Surround Soundbar Home Theater System:
The product sounds ok...a little flat because of no sub. However, what sold me to it was the HDMI and iPod connectivity options, and the fact that it had a Subwoofer Pre-Out Connection.
I haven't been able to get a sub working with it, and I see that others have had similar problems.

A full-featured sound bar WITH an iPod dock and integrated remote control is a difficult item to find - I looked! I chose the JVC after deciding that my "iLive" sound bar had outlived its usefulness. I tried a Vizio bar but it did not feature iPod integration. The JVC has quality sound for TV (I have it connected via optical) as well as for the iPod. While the EQ settings are somewhat limited (Bass/Treble) only it does offer Surround sound reproduction at a decent level. Make no mistake this isn't a Polk/Klipsch/Bose device - if you're an audio geek this may not be for you. But if you want above average audio quality and iPod integration - go with this.

Comments about JVC TH-BC3 Surround Soundbar Home Theater System:
Like others I was a little nervous buying this sound bar without having actually heard it and with few reviews. However, it is perfect for my needs since has 2 hdmi inputs so I can run my bluray player and cable box into the soundbar and then use the hdmi output to connect to tv similar to a receiver. The hdmi connections ensure no problems with syncing picture and sound. The sound is quite good and the 60 watts of power are sufficient even for my living room. The sound bar has 6 speakers but only 2 channels but the surround effect is not bad for creating a roomful of sound. The sound bar has a subwoofer output that allows me to conect it to my subwoofer so I can't comment on the bass of the unit on its own but it's great with the sub.
I really like the sound from the ipod dock. The dock works well with the remote as does the fm radio. I could have used a 3rd hdmi input for my area-free dvd player for UK dvds. Instead I had to connect the player directly to the tv with hdmi and to the sound bar with rca cables but the sound from the sound bar is good even using an analog connection. The sound bar comes with a pass-through device in case the bar blocks the tv's remote but the bar is small enough that I didn't need it with my 46 inch Samsung.
All in all I am very happy with the purchase.

Bought it on Black Friday to use with my 46" HDTV. It is extremely easy to setup and the sound quality is great. I also like JVC's brand and would like continue having their audio products. This product has iPod docking as well, which would be a huge draw for me to buy an iPod in the future :)

Comments about JVC TH-BC3 Surround Soundbar Home Theater System:
I had planned to use the TH-BC3 with my new 55" LED TV as the sound source in my family room as I did not want to install a full surround sound system for this room (already have a full 7.1 theater in the home). The first issue that I had was that the unit does not allow ample space in the rear to accomodate connection cables. There are two very thin cabling channels located to the right and left of the connection jacks instead of in the center of the unit. Once installed, the unit sounded like a transistor radio. I connected a powered subwoofer using the sub out jack. The low-end frequecies were barely audible. I am going to try it in a bedroom. If this does not work any better than the current onboard tv speakers, I will be returning the unit. I do like the look of the unit when compared to other soundbars, it just does not deliver on the sound part of soundbar...

This is a great product for any small room, condo or apartment. It is powerful enough to provide room filling audio with reasonable quality of sound. Not just a sound bar, but with the built in radio and iPod dock it really makes this product versatile in any room.

As advertised. Really upgrades the RV speakers well. Like the pre-out which adds great bass even with cheap subwoofer
I temporarily had to say good bye to my denon avr and 5.1 speakers. The faux surround sound is not as good as a full system, but you can't expect it to be. It does however provide a "fuller" sound as compared to the TV, especially with subwoofer
Like the 2 hdmi inputs. This is what sold this system to me. Makes connecting and switching components just as easy as with avr. Only gripe, I wish it had a 3rd hdmi input as most will have 3 inputs

I use this connected to iPod, OTA dtv tuner, and macbook pro. My display is not a tv but a NEC monitor.
Sounds average but meets my connectivity needs well.
I watch movies through the unit with a hdmi converter on my macbook's thunderbolt port. In this configuration, it appears to limit the display setting options because the display itself is not detected.
