Comments about Sony CLM-V55BDL Portable LCD Monitor Bundle:
This is a must-have composing tool for those demanding visual artists who want to see the scene in reality matches their imagination and creativity. Very sharp quality image.
HDMI output and two hot-shoe mounts provided (sony hot-shoe and universal hot-shoe). I was able to test this on a Sony NEX 7, Sony NEX VG10, and Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Manual focusing is a pleasure to use when composing with the CLM-V55BDL! Even the VG10 (before the firmware update that allows for peak focusing) is easy to use for manual focus--for when autofocus just doesn't work. It prevents the VG10 from becoming obsolete.
It is also lightweight enough for one hand operation. I had the CLM-V55BDL on the NEX7 with the pancake 16mm (24mm in 35mm terms). and was able to get the shot and composition I wanted.
Even in bright sunlight this is very usable. I covered my eyes with the included hood (this provides eyes from being burned by looking directly into the sun)

This monitor is really nice. One of the great features with this item is that it has the option for PEAK in which helps you pull focus with ease. The item has good build quality and is a great little package. I recommend this package to anyone that does a lot of travelling and needs a nice portable package.

Comments about Sony CLM-V55BDL Portable LCD Monitor Bundle:
This is a useful device, providing a larger viewfinder for any camera with HDMI out. The design and build quality are good. I've used it both with the NEX 5N and the VG20 and found it a worthwhile addition to my video shooting kit for both cameras. The peaking function is helpful for focus - but focus is also aided as the VG20's LCD monitor goes to expanded focus mode while leaving the HDMI output unchanged. Audio out jack is useful (as there isn't one on the 5N).
I believe this model was introduced last year, but its technology and menus seem older. The 384K resolution is less than the 921K of the VG20, resulting in a visibly lower image quality and matching colour between the two displays is difficult.
Didn't time it, but battery life seems shorter than I'd expected. Minor points - the sunscreen is difficult to remove, the included HDMI cable is slightly short and both ends would be better as 90 degree connectors.

Comments about Sony CLM-V55BDL Portable LCD Monitor Bundle:
I use this monitor with a Sony HVR-V1U. Camera LCD is too small to discern focus. The CLM-V55BDL solves the problem. Only complaint is the supplied HDMI cable. It's a standard to a mini. Sony should supply an adapter for mini back to standard. The adapter is available for 70 cents at a major online retailer.

Comments about Sony CLM-V55BDL Portable LCD Monitor Bundle:
I used the monitor on my FS100 shoulder rig, as I can't see the camera's own monitor, the CLM-55 is a mandatory accessory.
I like the size very much, as it's being 1.5 times larger in each dimension as the LCD of FS100, yet it's not so large that it adds a lot of weight to the rig and thus affects balance. Another plus is its using the Sony M series lithium batteries, which are common to my Alpha DSLR.
There comes the dislikes: First, the resolution is not as high as my smaller (3.5 inch) FS100 monitor, which possesses a higher pixel density to the CLM-55, and as an effect renders the scene more life-like. Secondly, the shoe slider of the rotatable mounting of the monitor is plastic, though tough enough to hold the monitor, yet as the mount is usually subjected to tremendous torque from the rotation of the LDC in use, the durability of the shoe slider is of my concern, and I find it helpful to purchase an additional metal shoe mount with 1/4 screw to reinforce it.(the original shoe slider has a 1/4 screw hole).
The bottom line: at the price, the monitor is a useful addition to complete your FS100 kit, yet we also might want Sony to improve the product durability (ie: more metal construction in supporting) as the product is aimed at pro video market.

Comments about Sony CLM-V55BDL Portable LCD Monitor Bundle:
Bought this in mid-March - used twice a week in a Helicopter & lots & lots of ground & vehicle work. The Monitor on my Canon 5D Mark2s has made life much easier & the Monitor controls are great. One major flaw is the standard accessory shoe mount. Mine just broke & Sony is not honoring warranties. They referred me to a distributor - great people but they want $69.95 [...]. Part # is X25814041. This will save you an hour of time wasted w/ Sony.

Comments about Sony CLM-V55BDL Portable LCD Monitor Bundle:
Just completed my first day of shooting with Canon 7D and Eyespy rig from Redrock. The monitor performed flawlessly, nice to have a large image to review footage. Only downside was small image size as Canon 7D does not scale up image to use all the screen. I expect to use this monitor for years and don't see the lack of compatibility with Canon 7D as real negative as I expect newer gear will take this into account.
