Light on the pocketbook and fun for the whole family, the Veho VMS-004D 400x USB Microscope provides a closer look at the world around you with up to 400x magnification. In addition to magnifying specimens, the VMS-004D has a built-in 2Mp camera that takes video and still images of your subjects for an even closer look on your computer monitor. The microscope can be removed from the included stand and used handheld, as well, for hard to reach places.

I love this thing. It's a great simple magnification device. For the price, I don't think you could get any better. The magnification is great, as well as the photo and video quality. I took close up video of some pond creatures, really cool. The still shots are also pretty crisp for the relativly low megapixel count. It's very simple to use and very compact. Not to mention it's nicely made. It feels like it cost a lot more. My only complaint is the software, it's very dated looking, and it has failed on me before, corrupting images or not recognising the device.

I took two videos of the dissection of a one-of-a-kind specimen. The bundled software didn't give any errors, but the videos are corrupted. I emailed tech support, they asked what operating system I used, and have not responded since.
Besides that, solid microscope, lots of fun.

This microscope works great - very clear images. Easy to use... sort of.
There is pretty much no user manual besides a basic setup (insert CD, click install type) But nothing on how to USE the microscope - fine tuning, zooming and focus adjustments, etc. With lots of tinkering you can make headway.
and the software is weak - about half the functions don't work, or don't work right. Can't always tell if the changes you make are even applied.
Microscope = GREAT. Software/Support = sub-par.

I had no issue in installing the driver and software.
I am using a notebook running on Win XP.
I could not figure out immediately how to get the highest magnification but then it worked out well with some trial and errors. It would be nice to have a little bit more information on this. Very good for school projects or if you are interested in taking pictures or videos. Quality is very acceptable considering the price of the unit.

We use this microscope to check surface mount components and solder joints. Works really good. Wish the stand was a little more solid. Also no focus adjustment, must be done manually by moving microscope up and down (which is hard due to stand).

The microscope is used inside of a CNC machining center in a dirty environment. It is well built and sturdy with a protective lens cover. Magnifacation is less than one that cost three times as much and failed but better resolution more than makes up for it. Software is far superior to the old one as well. An excellent value for the price.

Similar features to much more expensive units on the market. Good images and simple to use. The software is very basic and will not allow for measurements like some other brands. Also very jumpy on older PCs. (No problems with realativley newer machines)

Great deal. Works as advertised/expected on both my iMac and Windows 7 (I3) computers. A bit difficult to focus at 400X, but with a little patience, got a very clear picture. No problems at all at 20X. Works like a webcam. Look on Youtube for demos. Wish I had one when I was a kid!

This microscope would be useful if any adjustments were available to mac users. PC users have a variety of adjustments from the computer but the mac software side is very lacking. This product will be returned.

Needed a simple way to measure perf holes machine side. We are attempting to perf 500-800 micron holes in flexible packaging. This unit has helped us from having to run to the main lab to take measurments. Quick, on the fly adjustments can be made. Worthwhile investment for me. May look into another unit when product goes commercial so operators can do testing on the go.
