Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizer Filters - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.
If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

I use the circular polorizing filter for on the water portraits on resort excursion boats. The filter, as I have found with most Tiffen filters, is a lot of bang for the buck. It is a quality filter at a very reasonable price. Brings out the blues of the sea surface and the drama of the clouds. I have to shoot fast and cannot take time to edit photos and the Tiffen polorizing filter is a Godsend. The only aspect that I would like to see improved would be to have a ratcheting device on the adjustment ring. It can change the amount of polorizing quite easily and if you are using a sunshade on your lens, you must remove the sunshade to readjust the filters adjustment ring. Not a big deal.

Polarization was fine but the construction bothered me (could be just the one I received). I found the adjustment ring really loose and it would move without being touched. Also, the outer ring didn't appear to have a "mark" for easy location.
I exchanged this filter for the Hoya Multi-Coated CP and found it to be better constructed.

fits my Canon EFS 18-135mm lens but doesn't feel like it is threaded properly. Only screws on about a half a turn. It stays on the lens and is functional but not a custom thread fit to canon.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
If you buy this filter, it's important to understand that you will lose about two 'stops' compared to the amount of light you are used to getting with the particular lens you are working with. Meaning that if you live in a place like New York, and it's winter, and you're using an F4 lens, it will probably be too dark outdoors to get good photos with this filter, even on a sunny afternoon, unless there is snow on the ground. I would guess this lens will be very useful on summer days to reduce blown-out highlights, or to reduce glare when there is a reflective body of water in the photo. Also, when the filter is screwed on your lens, it will still rotate (that's what it is supposed to do) so it's important to make sure the bottom half of the filter is screwed on firmly to your lens so that you don't inadvertently loosen it when adjusting the filter's outer ring, causing your filter to fall off.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
The 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter is used on my Canon 60D with 18-135mm lens. It's great for landscape shots especially when you're shooting perpendicularly to the sun. It gives the high sky the most magnificent deep blue color. It's also great for eliminating reflections from glass, water, etc. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to find the "sweet spot" because you have to rotate the front of the filter until you see the effect you want through the viewfinder, and sometimes that effect can be quite subtle depending upon the subject and the lighting. However, with a bit of practice, this filter can bring your photography to new levels of excellence.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
It is my first polarized filter, so I dont have much to compare with. But I liked the filter a lot, gives the extra little finetouch to your pictures while you are in field. Means less photoshop. And the price make you smile all the way out of the store.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
There is lots of things you can buy to improve your outside videos but there are very few that give such dramatically improved results like this Tiffen Circular Polarizer Filter. Tiffen has been making these filters for Hollywood movie production companies for decades. The quality of construction is as good as it gets I highly recommend this product.

Fits great on my 24 -105 mm lens. Cuts the glare way down in the harsh Nevada mid-day sun. I'm very happy with this lens! I am able to use the container it came in as it's case.

I use the polarizer primarily to darken skies and to cut reflections. The filter screws on well without messing up the threads. It does what it is supposed to do. I just wish it came with a better casing that you could use to carry it around with.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
This filter is exactly like the Tiffen filter. It comes in the same filter case but costs less. It is excellent to darken blue skies so that the white clouds jump out at you. Also reduces reflections off all non metallic surfaces such as water and plants. Use with care on ultra wide lenses as the effect changes across the sky, one side darker then the other. This is not a fault of the filter but an attribute of polarized light.

I use this for shooting video on my Canon 60D. It works great for reducing glare off of windshields, water, cars, even faces. It lets you cut down haze in the sky. I will never not have one around if I'm shooting outdoors.
You lose a stop of light, but you're shooting outdoors so that's OK.

Comments about Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
This is the first time I ever used a circular polarizer.
Pros:
It improves the saturation of colors in my photos, especially bright, reflective (non-metallic) scenes.
It is nice to be able to slowly rotate the polarizer and be able to vary the amount of polarized light going through your lens. Very cool! You can see the changes in saturation levels instantly, through the lens. A highly versatile filter.
Cons:
It cuts your widest aperture by 1.3 stops; i.e. it cuts the light transmission by about 1.3 stops. This is an acceptable, known trade-off when using this kind of filter.
Be sure to periodically check that the filter is fully threaded onto your lens. Mine popped off and fell to the floor onboard a cruise ship, just inches from the railing. It could have fallen overboard!
