I have only had the chance to use the tripod a couple of times since purchasing it, but so far it has been great. I can't really ask for much more considering the price I paid.
This tripod truly exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, build, and performance. Remember now...I'm speaking as a consumer that spent around $40.
It's built with aluminum and plastic, but I really don't see how you can break this if you are being gentle like you would with any other accessories you have.

Its too bad that this Canon Deluxe 300 tripod has an issue with the quick-release lever breaking off. Other than that design defect, it appears very well built while being very light and quite stable.
B&H quickly issued a RMA and full refund for the defective tripod and paid for shipping. Thanks, B&H!
I exchanged it for a Manfrotto MKC3-P01 which cost a couple bucks more. The Manfrotto has fancier engineering, although I think the Canon is sturdier than the Manfrotto. The Manfrotto does fold up a few inches smaller than the Canon due to the 5 part legs. Unfortunately, those 5 part legs detract a bit from stability.

Comments about Canon Deluxe Tripod 300 with Carrying Case:
This tripod is just what I needed for the price! Although the tripod is mostly plastic, it is extremely lightweight and extends high enough where I don't need to bend over to look through the viewfinder (I am 5'9"). The carrying case is a nice touch and adds convenience while carry the tripod around. Great buy!

Comments about Canon Deluxe Tripod 300 with Carrying Case:
I have nothing negative to say about this tripod so far. It's Canon quality and does everything I need it to do as an amateur photographer/astronomer. Good value for the money - Easy to set up in the dark - Easily holds my Celestron 15x70 Skymaster binoculars (3 lbs) - No problem using the Quick-Release Camera Plate and I like the convenience of pop-on, pop-off with the twist of a lever. I would suggest not forcing the lever when mounting/unmounting the camera onto the tripod... it's plastic, not aerospace composites - Material of the Canon tripod matches my Canon camera - Tripod extends high enough to not have to bend when using camera & binoculars (I'm 5' 9").

Used primarily to film interview-style videos, with some photography as well. Researched quite a few tripods, and nothing offered as much for the money. Great value. It would be great if the hand crank for the center column wasn't plastic, but for the price, you can't complain. Very satisfied.

Very useful, well made, light weight and suitable for lenses up to 100mm without a problem. Have not tried with 70-200mm, but will probably not feel safe walking away from it. I like it and the price is right. It is easy to use and will last. Fine product-

The price is very good for a product like this one. Canon is a great brand, the tripod is not heavy and you can use in any kind of floors because it has a level mark. For me, it was perfect! I use it with a Canon Rebel T2i.

Comments about Canon Deluxe Tripod 300 with Carrying Case:
I'm new to the photography world. I'm taking my first photography course and feel the need to buy EVERYTHING!! Although the college loans out their equipment, I'm all about convenience (hence the need to buy EVERYTHING). So, for some assignments a tripod is necessary. I found this one for a good price and it would work with my camera. I love it! it's light weight, easy to set up and break down. I'm 5'9" and being able to extend it so that I don't have to bend over to take pictures the entire time is awesome. The one minor negative is the carrying case, just wish the strap was a little bit longer.

I use this product for my portraits, and when I am using a slower shutter speed. For forty dollars this is a great buy. The legs are made of steel so they are very durable. The legs are easly agustable and lock easily. And the level on the legs assure a even photo. The hand crank does however feal alittle cheep but it does the job. Overall a great product.
