The 2TB 5K3000 Deskstar 3.5" SATA Internal Hard Disk Drive from Hitachi is a sweet upgrade for your desktop computer's hard disk drive. This drive holds a huge capacity of 2TB and fits into your computer's 3.5" drive bay. It features an SATA III interface that allows for data transfer speeds of up to 6Gbps. This drive spins at 5400rpm while also utilizing the innovative CoolSpin technology to deliver a greater level of power efficiency and quiet operation for energy-conscious, environmentally-friendly computers. Key to CoolSpin technology is an optimization of motor speed to provide an ideal balance of performance, power utilization and acoustics. The CoolSpin technology, along with other Hitachi power management techniques, gives the Deskstar 5K3000 its 29% power savings over the Deskstar 7K3000. This drive is ideal for environmentally friendly desktop computers as well as home or small office storage servers.

Using for video post production archiving in a 5 bay RAID Level 10. They installed easily using the RAID manufacturers tools. Installed on suite with Windows 7 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. Testing by editing Sony EX1 1080P video files and importing and exporting about 1TB video with no glitches. Toward the end of the import the RAID fan kicks on high. Using USB 3.0 it was fast but I did not time it. After a few weeks, I'm happy. 3 year warranty from date of purchase if you keep your B&H receipt.
