The LXT114 2-Way Compact Communication Radio (Pair) from Midland is an inexpensive and convenient way to stay in touch on trips, at amusement parks, and more. Each radio has 22 selectable channels and up to 18 miles of wireless range in open areas. A channel scan feature automatically checks channels for activity, ensuring that you're on an open channel for clear communication.
The radio has silent operation with an auto squelch feature to remove annoying background noise. The eVOX mode provides voice activation, so the radio transmits only when you speak. The keypad makes audible tones when buttons are pressed, and it is also lockable to keep your selected settings. The radio is also water resistant to prevent damage from light water exposure.
Mic and headphone jacks are provided, allowing you to use the radio hands-free with a headset (sold separately). The radio can operate on 3 standard AAA batteries or on rechargeable batteries. A battery life extender provides a longer operating period. When used with rechargeable batteries, the radio can be recharged via the headset jack.
Note! Maximum range can only be achieved over water or open rural areas under optimum conditions. FCC license required.

Comments about Midland LXT114 2-Way Compact Communication Radio (Pair):
We purchased a set of 6 of these for use with our summer daycamp program. We wanted to be able to radio our camp leaders no matter where they were in our facility. These work great! Only had 1 incident with static while walking through the whole building. Only issue we ran into is that these radios will also pick up our protection's officer's radios so we are playing with the channels to fix that. Oh, that and the battery cover was REALLY hard to get off (instructions weren't terribly clear) but I'm sure that will get better with use.
Very satisfied with the purchase. Can't wait to see how they work outdoors over a longer range as well. Good value.
