General impression of the reader is good.
Just tested the card reader and it appears to be noticeably faster than my UDMA USB CF card reader.
ISSUES:
Sandisk ULTRA (new version) does not READ... I will elaborate.
I have alot of CF cards from Sandisk to Transcend. From my older 2nd gen ULTRA 2, ExtremeIII, Ducati edition, Sandisk Extreme the reader seems to be a screamer in performance. I'm not certain the issue but I have 4x 16 GB ULTRA 30MB/s cards. 2 of them purchased from B&H and the other two came from another large reputable company. The 2 cards from B&H work perfectly with the Delkin reader. My Other Sandisk Ultra cards DO NOT even get detected from the card reader. Please note the 2 "undetected" Sandisk cards work perfectly with my other USB2 CF card readers.
I tested the Delkin with my other USB2 ports on my new computer with no success. I was concerned it was a USB3 port issue. I even put the reader on my other 2 older computers (only USB2 ports)with the same issues.
I think this maybe an isolated incident with the batch of sandisk cards I bought.
I've thoroughly and strategically looked at the problem I am having and there are two variables. The newest variable in my setup is this card reader.
I guess this is more of an FYI heads up write up. I'm torn in how to review this product. Since its substantially cheaper than my older firewire sandisk reader I wont complain. 4 stars for me because I cannot determine 100% that its the Delkin product.

The 1st time I downloaded immages from my new camera (Canon 7d) I noticed that many jpeg images were over lapping each other. My new camera, my new PC? I started trouble shooting right away. taking pictures with various cameras, various brand name memory cards. trying various USB ports in my PC (both USB 2 & 3) Still the same thing. Then I took the same CF cards and put them in both a USB2 Delkin and USB2 SanDisk readers and like Magic the problem was gone. I proved the problem was with the new USB3 card reader. I sent Delkin a E-Mail detailing the problem and what I did to prove to myself that the problem is in the new USB3 reader. Delking sent me back a RMA# and instructions to send the device back, and promised to send me a NEW replacement. I haven't got the new one yet, but when I do I promise to let you know the results.

These manufacturers are promoting this device as 5gbps. Never!!!!
First of all, the connection to the card reader is very unstable and you must keep pressing the cable in constantly otherwise it disconnects from the computer.
Second, the transfer rate of this card is about 1gb per minute, which is much less than the 5gbps they are promoting.

Downloads FAST! The best way I found to use it was to:
1. open folder to view files,
2. then just copy and paste the files you want to transfer... or cut and paste if you open to open space on your memory card.

Comments about Delkin Devices USB 3.0 Universal Memory Card Reader:
This reader has constant problems when connected via USB 3 and is slower than most other readers when connected via USB 2. Their support group was pretty convinced the reader is defective but wanted me to advance pay shipping and let them have it for a couple weeks to see if they could fix it (not replace it) so it's easier for me to just buy something else.

Noticeable speed increase from USB 2.0 (of course, it depends on the speed of your media).

Comments about Delkin Devices USB 3.0 Universal Memory Card Reader:
I am a news photographer and I use this product every day. The first one was finicky from the beginning and got worse until it would not work at all. The second one was fine and then from one download to the next, it just quit working---I was on deadline and in a remote area filing from my vehicle with breaking news. I tried a different wire and still did not work. The solution I was offered by the sales associate on the first unit was to not place the usb connector completely in its slot and to hold it out a little bit----the first one would be so touchy that if I moved the cable it would quit and I would have to begin again.
It has not even been a year since I got that first one and now since December for the second one.
The construction of the product is not good---if you gently squeeze the case, like when you are removing the card, the top buckles upward where you can see inside the case---seems like a good place for dust and dirt to get stuck.
There will be a third time and I will always have a back up card reader from now on.

I've been through a number of card readers that have blown out or no longer fit the cards. This Delkin reader is much higher quality than most. It feels durable, registers quickly on the computer and is not easily broken. No hassles setting it up on any computer.

Comments about Delkin Devices USB 3.0 Universal Memory Card Reader:
Yup. It works.
Apparently, the front USB ports on my computer (built way back in 2006) are USB 1.0 because Windows 7 didn't recognize anything when I plugged in the reader.
I have a USB hub connected to one of the ports in the back of the tower and the Delkin works perfectly through my Belkin hub. Of course, that means that I haven't had a chance to try out the USB 3.0.

I use this Card Reader mainly to transfer DSLR Footage from CF cards. Awesome Speed even in an USB 2.0 port. Was happy to see I could even preview my full 1080p HD footage directly from the card with zero chop.
Light & Small Profile is great for carrying in your camera bag.

this reader does not always recognize cards and rarely transfers at USB 3 speeds. for consistancy I have to move it to a USB 2.0 port and even then it has trouble with fast cards that my $5 USB 2 reader has no problems with.

The first reader arrived and was DOA. No big deal as BH was speedy and accommodating in exchanging the defective product. The replacement was just fine and does everything as promised.
I'm sure there are competitors that make equally sufficient products but I purchased on previous experience with the manufacturer. When I had issues with the first Reader I called Delkin just to make sure it wasn't user error and they were polite and professional and happy to help in any way. Based on my experience with their customer service, and B&H of course, I will continue to buy their items when presented with the option.

Comments about Delkin Devices USB 3.0 Universal Memory Card Reader:
I have a couple of Nikon DSLRs, a Nikon D70s and a Nikon D300. Both use CompactFlash cards to store my pictures.
Having a desktop PC with two USB 3.0 ports I wanted to upgrade to a faster card reader which could take all the speed the compact cards support.
Actually I am using two Transcend cards and a SanDisk one. The UDMA Transcend CompactFlash 64GB 400x and the 32GB 400x version. The SanDisk is a 12GB Extreme.
The Transcend 64GB Compact Flash is used only for copying and storing big files from my Desktop to my Laptop since my DSLRs cameras does not support that size, 32GB is the limit on my Nikons.
This Belkin reader has no problem reading, downloading or written to them. Very fast and reliable.
I am very happy with the product and it's price.
Highly recommended.
