Comments about Olympus BLS-5 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery:
Spare batteries are always a good idea for camera's so I purchased this one as my E-PL2 oddly came with a BLS-1 with the BCS-5 charger.
Supposedly this is a minor redesign of the BLS-1 battery to comply with the new Japanese regulations on lithium ion rechargeable batteries. It has 1 more contact than the BLS-1 but they are almost the same as I've had no problems with either the charger or camera.
I also see no improvement in lifespan or charging time vis-a-vis the BLS-1

Comments about Olympus BLS-5 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery:
This battery drains a little faster than is desirable. And I actually bought the EPL-2 in part because it was supposed to be not to bad on battery drain compared to other similar cameras. But I'm stuck with their designated battery because I follow instructions a little literally (the manual says to only use the Olympus-mandated battery and that 3rd party variants could cause problems - this is likely silly and I'd be curious to know if one of those 3rd party parts companies made a better one).

Comments about Olympus BLS-5 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery:
I'm a very amateur photographer but love to take photos on trips - lots of them. Not too long ago, I switched from my Canon Rebel XT to an Olympus E-PL2. I wanted to get an extra battery, in case, and have compared the much less costly MAX battery with the Olympus Li-Ion battery - I can take at least 4 times the shots with the Olympus battery.

Comments about Olympus BLS-5 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery:
When it comes to camera batteries I have always had the best luck with OEM. This battery is no exception. Good battery life, no sudden drop off in battery level. Always nice to have a spare handy.
