The TS-412U Turbo NAS 1U Rackmount Server from QNAP is a business-class NAS server that can easily be incorporated into your business network on a 1U server rack. This enclosure features four hard disk drive bays that accommodate 2.5" or 3.5" SATA II or I hard disk drives. You can scale up to a maximum of 12TB of storage, with each drive being 3TB in capacity. With whatever capacity drives you install, you can use the NAS to store your media and other files in a centralized location and access it from any computer or other device on your network. If you want to host websites, backup data, share data across different platforms, and much more, this server is a particularly affordable solution.
To ensure quick and efficient data retrieval, the enclosure utilizes a Marvell 6281 1.2GHz CPU and 256MB of DDR2 RAM. To safely store your data, the server supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 6, 5+ hot spare, single, and JBOD disk configurations. With these options, you can customize your system based on whether you'd prefer more storage or security. In terms of hot-swapping, you can change out drives of the same size (while in RAID 1 or above), switch to a higher RAID level, or expand to larger drives without having to turn off this enclosure.
The enclosure can function as a web, file, Samba, FTP, print, multimedia, backup, surveillance webcam, and virtual host supported web server. To note, it also supports ISCI targets, so you can add iSCI devices for storage expansion or as backup destinations for existing application servers. Plus, a one-touch copy button allows you to backup your data to a connected eSATA or USB storage device, other QNAP NAS servers, an Rsync Server, or cloud-based storage, such as Amazon S3.
A wide variety of management tools let you get the most out of your NAS, including scheduled events, event tracking, Universal Power Supply support, email, and SMS support. It can connect to your LAN network via dual Gigabit Ethernet ports or wirelessly to your WAN router, if you have a wireless -N or -G USB dongle connected to it (not included). For accessing your data, you can do so remotely or while the enclosure is connected to your network. It can work with different files format systems, allowing file sharing across Windows, Mac, Linux, and UNIX computers. For connecting external devices, such as printers or external drives, the enclosure features four USB 2.0 ports, and two eSATA ports. All told, this enclosure is a stellar solution for your small-to-medium sized business networking storage needs without busting the budget.
