The Panasonic HX-DC1 HD Dual Camcorder combines a slim and stylish design with generous helpings of high-definition goodness. More powerful than comparable pocket camcorders, the camera's high-quality image engine and sensitive, 14-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor are aided by a 12x Double Range Zoom, 3D Digital Noise Reduction, and Face Detection to let you capture and share full 1920 x 1080 memories with unprecedented ease.
Video and photos are equally well served by this lightweight wonder. Whether shooting 1080p/720p video, standard-definition video, or 14MP stills, you're assured of capturing impressive high-quality images. Twin Movie/Photo buttons let you quickly switch between shooting video and stills, with Photo mode letting you choose your own scene setting or color mode--or switch the camera to Manual and take pictures the old-fashioned way.
The DC1's 3" widescreen LCD not only rotates 285°, it provides 7 levels of brightness, helping you compose your shots from nearly any angle and still keep your image in view. The 6x optical zoom, meanwhile, doubles to 12x in video mode, so you can get closer to your subject with no image degradation. Face Detection, Nine-point Auto Focus, and electronic image stabilization keep subjects in focus and images steady.
Other standout features include Macro Shooting for getting up close and personal, simultaneous Movie/Photo capture for grabbing 2MP stills while shooting video, and the handy High-Speed Reverse Consecutive Shooting function, which captures a sequence of images from before you hit the shutter button. No matter the situation, the HX-DC1 is your go-to camera for capturing and sharing memories.

Comments about Panasonic HX-DC1 HD Dual Camcorder (Gray):
While I Purchased the same after exchanging my Handycam, I expected somewhat similar quality. But the same turned out to be the biggest disaster.
1. The battery is pathetic.
2. Being HD, the file sizes are too high to handle.
3. Since coupled with both manual and auto handling, there is always a chance of landing on the wrong option.
4. menu buttons are too small to be handled.
5. Intelligent Auto flash option not available.

Comments about Panasonic HX-DC1 HD Dual Camcorder (Gray):
This camcorder has much to recommend it, and a couple of cautions.
It's small size is very attractive. It is lightweight and compact, and fits easily and comfortably in your right hand. Lefties will have to adapt, I'm afraid. Picture quality is excellent, and the zoom, flash, and playback are all very nice, indeed.
On the cautionary side, because it is so lightweight, it is not very stable, so hand held videos show quite a lot of hand movement. A tripod is strongly recommended. There is considerably less shake with still images (and, of course, the image stabilization helps, too).
If you take it for what it is, a small, lightweight yet high-quality camcorder, it is an excellent buy. If you expect pro quality, you will be disappointed.
The instructions are not very helpful. For example, the charging instructions tell you that, while your're charging, if a red light blinks every 0.5 sec, there is a problem. However, it doesn't mention that the same red light blinks about every 1.0 sec when it is charging properly, which can easily fool you into thinking it isn't charging properly.
Also, when viewing the files on the SD card (not included), you must click the Menu button to be able to delete the files. The instructions do tell you this, but it is not easy to find that information.

Comments about Panasonic HX-DC1 HD Dual Camcorder (Gray):
I bought this camera for the video and still pictures. Good indoor stills. Outside in bright daylight I can not see the image on the LCD screen. The controls are small and the menu difficult to use. I tried to take pictures of the giant windmill farms, and got nothing but sky or ground. I am not happy with this camera. I should have done more research before I bought it

Comments about Panasonic HX-DC1 HD Dual Camcorder (Gray):
Will be using to film new grandchild arriving later this month. Clarity much better than camcorder that is not hd. Not much time with camera yet. I did order 1000ma battery as one supplied may not last 1hr. I have not used that long yet so I do not know. Having to use cable to charge under cover not conveniant, so I ordered external battery charger. Overall very happy with purchase. I like hdmi strait to tv, should have had mini hdmi cord included. Also like being able to remove SD card and drag and drop Mp4 files straight to pc and play.
