To be eligible for this upgrade, you must own one of the following: Premiere Pro CS4, CS3, 2.0, 1.0, Premiere, or Encore DVD 2.0.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 for Windows is professional nonlinear editing software that allows editors to work directly on the timeline with every major tapeless camera format, including P2, XDCAM EX/HD/HD50, JVC ProHD, AVCHD, AVCCAM, DPX, RED R3D, Canon XF, and Nikon and Canon DSLR. Support for these formats is native, so no transcoding or re-wrapping is required.
You can also import and export most other popular video, graphics, and audio file formats, such as FLV, F4V, MPEG-2, QuickTime, Windows Media, AVI, BWF, AIFF, JPEG, PNG, PSD, TIFF, and more. (DV and HDV capture via FireWire is, of course, still supported as well.) The powerful software allows you to mix these supported formats on a single timeline, with high-quality scaling and flexible interpretation rules that engender exceptional output from mixed-format footage.
To support flexible, fast, and powerful creative editing, Premiere Pro CS5.5 features the 64-bit Mercury Playback Engine, which delivers astounding software performance with or without GPU acceleration from your graphics card. For this version, CS5.5 offers additional GPU-accelerated filters and effects. Tight integration with other Adobe Creative Suite programs has long been a hallmark of Premiere, and for version CS5.5, Adobe adds round-tripping of projects with Audition CS5.5 for fast, flexible audio editing.
To be eligible for this upgrade, you must own one of the following: Premiere Pro CS4, CS3, 2.0, 1.0, Premiere, or Encore DVD 2.0.

Comments about Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 for Windows (Upgrade from Premiere Pro CS4, CS3, 2.0, 1.0, Premiere, or Encore DVD 2.0):
I have installed it on a HP Elitebook 8440p with a 4 Gb of RAM, I5 processor running Windows 7 64 bit on a docking station connected to 2 4:3 expect ratio 15" monitors. Moving directly from 1.0 to CS5.5 is to me is quite a drastic move. Installation was a breeze even though it took about half an hour to complete. You are required to enter both Premiere CS 5.5 and 1.0 serial no. if you have not install version 1.0 already so have it handy before begin installation. You have the option to use either Premiere Pro CS4, CS3, 2.0, 1.0, Premiere, or Encore DVD 2.0 serial no. during the installation.
Being an an I.T professional and experience with premiere 1.0, I manage to adjust and immediately start using Premiere CS5 and start producing video like I have been doing with 1.0 after a year or so of break. The interface is quite similar to 1.0. But the video preview windows is so much more accurate than 1.0 and shows lots of details as I expanded the preview window to cover from the left edge to right edge of one of the 4:3 expect ratio 15" monitor.
After updating the laptop display driver I manage to get a smooth video playback on the preview screen as long as you don't use any video effects or up 1 effect only. Beyond that you need to render first to get a smooth playback on the preview screen.
I was editing a friend wedding dinner video that I shoot using Canon EF 105 as a practice for my next project, a client's wedding. That was my first time shooting using a HD camera with a steadycam HD Pro 2000 and editing in HD even though I have been producing video for the past 5 years. My regrets is I did not use any on camera lighting which I think is needed for this camera as the video is a little grainy when shooting under normal lighting and when shooting under low light the video is quite bad.
I am a little intimidated with Encore CS 5.5 as there is no Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) if purchase separately so changing the Menu background using default version of photoshop which is automatically launched when you go to edit menu in photoshop is not possible or at least I haven't figure out how to do it.
I have not yet use On location and have no experience with previous version so I can't comment right now.
After using it for about 2 weeks I have not experience any crashes yet (fingers cross) and it seems pretty solid.
